Igor Guberman: biography and creativity

Guberman Igor was born in Kharkov on 07/07/1936. He lived there only eight days from birth. And, as the poet himself says, "he went to conquer Moscow." Igor's mother graduated from the conservatory, his father - an economist. At school I was immediately accepted into the second class, since I already read and wrote. In 1958, Igor graduated from MIIT, and he was awarded a diploma of an electrical engineer.

Labor and literary activity

He worked for a few years. The first work experience was in Bashkortostan, where he worked as an electric locomotive driver for a year. In parallel, I worked on popular science books. Somehow it was possible to combine at that time work with literary activity, Igor Guberman remembers. Books:

  • "The Third Triumvirate" - about the methods and means of cybernetics in biology (1965).
  • "Miracles and tragedies of a black box" - about research and the possibilities of the brain (1968).
  • "The liberated time" - about the leader of the organization "Narodnaya Volya" (1975).
  • "Bechterew. Pages of Life »- about the Russian psychologist and neurologist V. Bekhterev (1976).

Guberman Igor Mironovich wrote scripts for several documentary films, regularly published essays and articles in periodicals. In the fifties he became acquainted with A. Ginzburg and other free-thinking people. To many of them he is very grateful, says Igor Guberman, the biography could be quite different. More and more revealing himself as a dissident poet, writing satirical poems about the problems of the country of the Soviets.

Arrest and reference

He actively participates in the publication of the underground magazine "Jews in the USSR" and publishes his works there. The dramatic moment of his life was arrest, on a trumped-up charge. Guberman says that this was predetermined, because for a year he was followed by a black car.

Refused to testify against the editor and he was sentenced to 5 years. He spent his term completely - from 1979 to 1984. This "peculiar pastime" added to his life experience, recalls Igor Guberman. "Biography does not work out" and life can throw any surprise. Most importantly, keep cheerfulness and be honest with yourself. In the camp he always kept diaries, in 1980 he wrote "Walks around the barracks", the book was based on diary entries (published in 1988).

Emigration to Israel

Returning from prison, for a long time could not get a residence permit in the city and get a job. A year later, when Gorbachev came to power, there was some hope that changes had begun in the country. Unfortunately, hopes did not materialize. The family emigrated to Israel. Actually, the decision to leave was taken a long time, but prevented the departure of the arrest of Huberman. Therefore, the process of moving was delayed for many years.

He moved to Israel in 1987, as an ordinary repatriate. He did not notice any "special" interest in himself, as a famous person. But, it turned out that in Israel he has many readers. Therefore, creative meetings with readers and concerts began very quickly.

He always earned his living in various ways, says Igor Guberman, the biography of the work activity is broad - he was an engineer, a foreman, and a mechanic. When I came to Israel, I was ready for everything and did not expect that I would be able to support my family with literary work.

Creativity Huberman

Guberman Igor Mironovich is actively engaged in literary activity. He also writes his famous quatrains. They are distinguished by humor and conciseness. Quite often in quatrains, profanity is used. He considers it a natural part of the free and great language.

And this is normal, says Igor Guberman, the biography of many famous personalities and the best works of Russian literature have repeatedly confirmed that it is quite natural. Now free vocabulary has returned to the modern literary language.

Legendary "Garik"

He calls his quatrains "Garikami". Once he called them "datsibao" (propaganda leaflets during the revolution in China). In the seventies, when two of his books came out, before the arrest of Huberman, they were all called "Jewish datsibao". But Huberman says that this is stupid and wrong. I decided that it is best to call them "Garikami", since his house was called not Igor, but Garik.

He does not see anything strange or reprehensible in this. He believes that this is very organic, as now many people call the quatrains their own name and a great number of "mishiki", "iriki", "marikov" appeared. In his "Garik" Huberman often ridicules Russian reality. The quatrain is already more than four thousand, several publications have survived the collection "Gariki for every day." Igor Guberman published other collections of poems:

  • "Gariki (Datsibao)" (1988).
  • "Gariki for every day" (1992, in two volumes).
  • "Calendar 2000" (1999).
  • "Gariki from Atlantis" (2009).
  • "Gariki for many years" (2010).
  • "Gariki from Jerusalem" (2011).

Igor Guberman is the author of the novel "Strokes to a Portrait" (1994). Speaks with reading poems, stories and memories in the US, Russia, and other countries. Leading a number of programs in Russian on Israeli television. The works of Huberman are translated into English, Italian, German and other languages.

Wife Guberman Tatiana by education philologist. To everything that her spouse writes, she is calm. She perfectly understands that the character's image in verse and the author are different things. In his family, even the most "prickly" poems are perceived by everyone normally. Igor Mironovich says that his poems have tried to translate into other languages, but nothing comes out of this. "Apparently, the realities of our life can not be expressed in another language," Guberman jokes.
