The history of sweets started back in 1890. Exactly one hundred years after the death of the great composer, confectioner Paul Furst, invented this marzipan-chocolate creation. To this day, the townspeople carefully store the memory of it and proudly demonstrate everything connected with the life and work of the genius. "Mozart" sweets by its recipe is quite simple: it is a ground nut mixture mixed with sugar syrup and generously bathed in a delicious composition of bitter and milk chocolate. Since Paul Furst and all his followers have not bothered to patent their creation, a lot of various fakes continue to appear on the market. Not to be mistaken with the choice is easiest, of course, in the Salzburg itself. But here it is more profitable to buy sweets not in the numerous registered shops, which are mainly intended for tourists, but on the Market Square. The quality of the Mozart sweets is the same there, and the price is much lower.

Buying sweets outside of Austria even in specialty stores, you may be surprised that they may taste different. All this is a consequence of the fact that the recipe was not patented, and therefore each manufacturer adds its ingredients to the delicacy, the candy also has a quality mark and a mandatory inscription: echte Mozartkugeln, which translates as "real Mozart sweets." By purchasing sweets from these companies, you can be sure that you are paying for Austrian quality, and the taste will not disappoint you. In addition to the various ingredients used by the pastry cooks, the taste may differ from one manufacturer due to the fact that each of them produces several types of sweets. For example, in the candy "Reber" ("Mozart") it is customary to add fruit liqueur, which makes the taste a little bit tart.

The real Mozart sweets are always hand made at the confectionery in Salzburg, which is called the inventor of the dessert Paul Furst. Such products always have a round shape and a silver-blue package. Their availability is much lower than that of other manufacturers, and the price is several times higher.
