Finishing putty - pledge of ideal walls

Even some a couple of decades ago, repair and decoration of the walls were extremely simple: crevices and cracks were embedded with alabaster mortar, and new ones were pasted in place of the old wallpaper. The current standards and technologies for repair and decoration work are significantly different, primarily due to the appearance of various building mixtures. For example, one of these modern materials is the finish putty, which allows you to bring the walls to an ideal state.

New features - great result!

To eliminate large defects and uneven walls, plaster is used immediately, which is then covered with a layer of starting putty mix. But these materials do not allow you to achieve the necessary smoothness, so the "final word" is the finish of the walls. With the help of it, small defects are eliminated after the starting mixture and the final, so to say, clean alignment of the surfaces. Finishing putty has the smallest size of fractions, thanks to which the necessary smoothness is achieved. Especially important is the quality of the walls in case they are prepared for painting, because no paint can mask even the slightest irregularities. The big plus of "finish" is that it has a white color and this allows it to be used for finishing materials of any shades and to be sure of the final result. Among other things, putty, covered with a primer, provides good adhesion of any finishing materials to the wall, and this is a guarantee that after some time the finish will not fall off.

Finishing putty: reviews and recommendations of specialists

There are three criteria for choosing the finishing putty - the size of the fractions, the pour point and the kind of binder component (gypsum, cement, polymer). The main of these criteria is precisely the binding base of the mixture. For example, cement finishing putty has excellent water resistance, so it is suitable for use in bathrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. But the disadvantage of this material is its propensity to shrink, in connection with which it is required to apply it in several layers. But gypsum putty shrinkage does not give, but it does not tolerate temperature changes and high humidity. The most technological is the polymer finishing putty. It has a high plasticity, so it is easy to apply on the surface, making them even. But the minus of this material can be considered its high cost.

Tools for drawing "finishes"

Before applying the finish coat, the walls must be primed. In the process of work, three spatulas will be needed: narrow (10-15 cm), wide (40-60 cm) and angular. With a small spatula, the finished mixture is taken from the bucket and transferred to a wide spatula, which is used to level it over the surface. Angle spatula makes it easy to apply the material to the corners. The thickness of one coating layer should not exceed 2 mm, otherwise it may crack when dried. The consumption of putty on the finish square meter will, of course, depend on the thickness of the layer, but on average it goes 1 kg per 1 m 2 .
