How to make a terrarium with your own hands.

Before we move on to the main topic of our conversation, namely how to make a terrarium with our own hands, let's nevertheless define the very concept of this subject.

What is an aquarium everyone knows. So the terrarium is almost the same with just one exception: it contains various reptiles and amphibians, for example, turtles or snakes. It is a plastic, glass or wooden box, closed on all sides, with an obligatory system of heating, ventilation and lighting. Depending on what kind of animal you are going to keep in the terrarium, it can be vertical, cubic, horizontal, and also dry or so-called aqua terrarium.

With this question all is more or less clear. Now let's get down to business and learn how to make a terrarium with our own hands. Prepare all the necessary materials and tools in advance.

You will need: two bamboo poles two to two and a half meters in length and eight to ten centimeters in diameter, seven bamboo sticks one meter long by twenty centimeters, three centimeters in diameter. In addition, in advance, purchase a five-millimeter glass measuring forty-five centimeters by eighty, forty centimeters by forty five, fifty centimeters by fifty in the number of two pieces. And also one piece of the same glass, but forty by eighty centimeters. Be sure to use a silicone sealant and hemp.

So, how to make a terrarium? Take a glass size forty to eighty and place it on small pieces of polystyrene in a horizontal position for the purpose of leveling. After that, dipped in a usual vinegar napkin wipe the edges, which then apply a silicone sealant.

Now take a glass forty-five by eighty centimeters. Process the edge with vinegar and soak the sealant, then install it vertically on the horizontally placed glass. Do the same with the other sides. Leave the terrarium to dry for a day.

Next, make a table of bamboo. The thickest sticks are cut into four legs, about fifty or sixty centimeters high. Make them a vertical propyl, two centimeters wide and forty-six centimeters long. These edges will hide the edges of the future terrarium.

For all four corners of the cuts, drill through holes for mounting the jumpers, which must be longer than the entire structure by two centimeters. The long upper jumpers will act as a luminaire cover. That's why they should be made from a thicker bamboo, which must be dissolved in half to later install into the grooves.

As a luminaire, use a linear fluorescent lamp with a length of no more than forty-five centimeters. Wire it from her through the bamboo leg. It's turn to the hemp, which will play the role of a decorative element.

We came to the final stage. Continuing to make the terrarium with our own hands, we collect the whole structure together. Remove the remains of dried silicone with a sharp knife, mount the knives from all four corners, which are also glued to the silicone. Set the jumpers: first the bottom, and then the upper ones. We decorate our terrarium with hemp.

It remains to work for a small, namely the installation of the lid. To do this, take the remaining thin sticks of bamboo and do it in propyl according to the thickness of the glass, which is then fastened with silicone. In the middle, where two glasses meet, we establish a jumper. We fix the lamp, and so that the light is evenly distributed throughout the terrarium.

Here, in fact, that's all. We made a beautiful terrarium with our own hands. It remains only to equip it, but this is a completely different topic for conversation.

In conclusion, we add that you can make a terrarium for a turtle with your own hands on the same principle. The main thing is to determine the dimensions for the normal life of this amphibian. As an example, we give the following figures: for a tortoise with a length of fifteen centimeters, the useful area of the terrarium must be at least half a square meter.

And otherwise adhere to the above technology and get a wonderful terrarium, which, among other things, can also serve as a table.
