How to assess the child's health?

Determine only one view of the child's health status is impossible. After all, you must take into account not only physical parameters, but also mental state. The child should develop harmoniously, and this largely depends on the conditions in which he lives: the psychological situation in the family, the financial situation of the parents, and even the level of their education is important here.

Evaluation of the child's health is an important activity, the results of which determine the health group to which he belongs. In turn, knowledge of the health group allows you to determine the physical load that is appropriate for a given child, and measures to prevent diseases to which it is exposed.

Such an assessment is aimed at the timely detection and elimination of existing pathologies, because only in this way can improve the health of the nation.

Criteria for assessing health

The state of the child's health is determined by many criteria, divided into 2 groups: defining and characterizing.

The defining ones include the geneological, social and biological anamnesis.

Parameters of the social anamnesis:

  • Fullness of the family.
  • The level of education of the family.
  • Housing and household conditions of the family.
  • Psychological climate.
  • Material security.
  • Level of sanitary and hygienic conditions.

Parameters of the biological anamnesis:

  • How was the pregnancy.
  • How the delivery was taking place.
  • What was the health of the child after birth.

Geneological history is determined for each disease, as far as the whole family is predisposed to any pathologies.

All these parameters the doctor should find out at the first meeting, and then proceed to the criteria characterizing the state of the child's health:

  • Physical development.
  • The state of the nervous system and psyche.
  • The functioning of internal organs and systems (pulse, pressure, hemoglobin level , etc.)
  • Presence (or absence) of malformations and developmental anomalies.

After studying and examining all the items the doctor gives an opinion, determining which group of health the child belongs to.

There are 4 groups in total

The first group includes healthy children who do not have any abnormalities or minimal developmental defects (the structure of the auricle, abnormalities of the nails, stigma, etc.), which can not affect the state of his health.

The second group includes those who have minimal risks of developing and forming chronic diseases, that is, they are burdened with social, gynecological or biological anamnesis. For example, alcoholism in parents, occupational hazards or abnormalities of pregnancy.

In the presence of functional abnormalities, but the absence of any chronic processes in the body of children are included in the second group B.

The third group includes children with chronic diseases, and the fourth group includes children with disabilities.

Based on long-term follow-up, the health group may change, although often this should not be done (only after 9 months). The basis for the transfer can be improved functional indicators, cure for an acute illness, removal from the account of a chronic disease.

Diagnosis of the state of health is necessary to ensure that every child is given effective and necessary recommendations for a healthy lifestyle. So, the children of the first group need only preventive recommendations. They must observe the regime of the day, eat well and be tempered. Children of the second group already need health-improving measures in order to improve their health and they could go to the first group. Children from the third and fourth group of health are usually under the supervision of doctors and receive the necessary treatment depending on the existing pathology.
