Group Death: composition, genre, discography

Appearing in North America, the band "Death" appeared in front of fans of heavy music as the founder of the death metal genre. Legendary musicians began their journey as a school collective, subsequently obtaining the status of the founding fathers of the brutal style.

Group members

In 1983, school friends led by Chuck Schuldiner decided to organize a musical group MANTAS. After the release of the first album, this name was changed. Newly-discovered musicians sought inspiration in the work of the bands Slayer and Venom.

The initial composition of the group included:

• Chuck Schuldiner (guitarist and vocalist).
• Barney Lee (drummer).
• Frederic DeLillo (guitarist).

The group immediately began to play brutal death metal. Demo recording of the first 5 songs was called Death By Metal. She sold a large circulation among the dealers of cassettes. In the hometown of Orlando, the group was underestimated. This is explained not only by the large amount of noise in the recordings, but also by the new style of performing heavy music.

By the end of 1984, the band Death is breaking up due to constant internal conflicts. Chuck continues to write music and promises to continue to develop in the given direction. He wanted to create compositions that would be even faster and heavier than before.

Deadly overload

In the same 1984, Chuck creates a new team, joining forces with Rick Roz and Ken Lee. In October, the legendary demo "The Kingdom of Terror" was recorded jointly. Such an event cost musicians only 80 dollars - they worked on the basis of a music store. After a couple of months, the guys performed at the local Rusty's Pub with the legendary Nasty Savage.

The next record for attracting famous studio companies was called "Hell Death". She was included in the list of the most difficult creations of the group. Until 1986, the composition of the team was constantly changing. Chuck was joined by Scott Carlson and Matt Olivo, and later Eric Bretch. However, with none of them the vocalist did not converge in musical taste. After a trip to Canada, Chuck returned to Florida.

First album

Only in 1987, the band Death in the new lineup released its debut album - Scream Bloody Gore ("The Scream of Lousy Blood"). The list of songs includes:

• "Accursed death."
• "Zombie Ritual."
• "Renunciation from life."
• "Sacrificial."
• "Mangle".
• "Spewing guts."
• "Baptized with blood."
• "Torn apart."
• "Evil Dead".
• "Cry of blood."

The record immediately attracted the attention of the musical community. She was included in the most important releases of death metal. After another rise in popularity in the group once again there was only one Chuck. The beginning of the concert activity was marked by his joining the Masacre group. This event marked the beginning of the group's concert activity.

Despite the fact that the record was very popular, Schuldiner himself was not delighted with his brainchild.

Later, in 1990, the band Death performed a grand tour of Europe without its leader. Luis Carrizalez became the vocalist. After that, Chuck quarreled with the rest of the participants, and the name Death was left for him.

Discography

During its existence (from 1984 to 2001) the band released the following albums:

1. "Scream of lousy blood" - the album included 10 tracks.
2. Leprosy - the disc was released in 1988 and became one of the big steps in the development of the direction of death metal. The first composition of the album was written based on the film "Fog" by John Carpenter.
3. "Spiritual Healing" - this collection contains excellent parts for the guitar. In alliance with Chuck Sh is played by James Murphy. You can also note the great melodiousness of the album in comparison with the previous ones.
4. "Man" - the collection is characterized by the dynamism of the compositions and the technicality of the musicians.
5. "Fate" is a phenomenon of melodic metal.
6. "Individual patterns of thinking" - all compositions include alternating parts for guitar by Chuck Schuldiner and Andy LaRocca. The album took 11th place among the greatest estreme-metal albums.
7. "Symbolic" - minor moods prevail in the compositions of this album.
8. "The sound of perseverance" is the maximum of progressive metal. The album also features an instrumental composition, which is a batch of soft guitars without drums.
9. "Live in Eindhoven" - a mini-concert, designed to draw the group's attention to record companies.
10. "Living in Los Angeles" - originally the project was created to raise money for the treatment of Schuldiner from cancer. However, soon after his release, Chuck dies.

The brutal sound of the band Death, whose songs became the basis for creating a new style of heavy music, is today considered a classic of metal.

Richard Christie

In 1996 Richard Christie was invited to the drummer's place. With his incredibly difficult incomprehensible rhythms, the album "The Sound of Perseverance" immediately fell in love with the fans. Richard himself said in an interview that he considers his game in this album to be a great achievement. He admits that since childhood he listened to Chuck Schuldiner and admired his compositions. Time spent in the group Death, he considers the best in his career as a drummer.

Engaged in a garage in Florida, he with 10 years of years honed his skills. At school the guy got into a military orchestra, and subsequently collaborated with a number of well-known collectives: Demons and Wizards, Burning Inside, Acheron, and others.

"Death" returns

The heaviest period for fans was in 1988 and 2001. After recording the album Symbolic Chuck was distracted from the development of the group and engaged in side projects. However, in the studio Sound of Perseverance, the sound remains the same, which pleased the fans. In 1999, doctors discovered a brain tumor in Chuck, and in connection with this, he suspended musical activity. By 2001, he released a live album Live On LA On December 13, 2001, the life of Chuck Schuldiner was interrupted. In this regard, the group Death ceased to exist.
