The recipe for Greek salad came to us from the country of the same name and quickly gained popularity among lovers of proper nutrition. Prepare a Greek salad with shrimp, croutons, chicken, tuna. It also includes tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce leaves, olives, Bulgarian sweet peppers. However, the card of this dish was always feta cheese. In Russia, this product can not afford all, so it began to replace the more familiar for us cheese cheese or Adyghe cheese. As a dressing, as a rule, a special sauce is used, however some types of Greek salad are dressed with yogurt and mayonnaise.

Greek salad with shrimps: a recipe with a photo

This kind of Greek salad is very similar to the classical version and also includes tomatoes, olives, feta, cucumbers. However, for more original taste, some more components were added here. So, lettuce Greek with shrimps and rye crumbs.

Preparing ingredients

For salad :

  • Shrimp without shell - 500 g;
  • Tomatoes - 250-300 g;
  • Brynza, Adyghe cheese or feta - 100-200 g;
  • Cucumber - 250-300 g;
  • Garlic - to taste;
  • Red onion - 1 middle head;
  • Olives without pits - 100-200 g.

For refueling :

  • Lemon juice - 30 ml;
  • Olive oil - 30 ml;
  • Salt, spices - to taste;
  • Dried oregano - 5 g.

Preparation of salad

  • First you need to prepare the shrimp. To get them it is better in the cleared kind to prepare a salad Greek with shrimps for shorter time. Garlic is peeled and chopped into large pieces. In a frying pan warm up a little vegetable oil, add the garlic and fry over high heat. After a couple of minutes of this treatment, roasted garlic is extracted from the oil and discarded. He fulfilled his role, now the vegetable oil has acquired a characteristic garlic smell. Now the fire is reduced and put in the frying pan in advance defrosted peeled shrimp. Fry for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. When they get a golden hue, they spread it on a paper towel to get rid of excess fat.
  • Then tomatoes are prepared. Chefs from all over the world recommend in a Greek salad with shrimps to crumble cherry tomatoes, but for want of such it is possible to take ordinary tomatoes of small size. Fruits are put in a colander, washed under a stream of water and left for a few minutes to allow the glass to liquid. Then cut them into large slices.

  • Next on the turn are cucumbers. It is recommended to cut all the products into Greek salad with shrimps coarsely. This applies to cucumbers. They are washed, allowed to drain water and cut into large slabs. If the rind of the cucumber is hard or bitter, it is previously cut. Cheese is diced or kneaded with a fork. A can of black olives is opened and drained. If necessary, cut the olives in half. Lettuce leaves are washed under running water, shaken off, crumbled into large pieces and torn. Onions are cut randomly. For the preparation of dressing, all the products described are simply mixed with a fork or a halo.
  • All the prepared vegetables, fried in garlic oil, shrimp, lettuce, cheese and olives are mixed in a deep bowl and poured with a dressing. Greek salad with prawns must be infused before serving. Therefore, it is covered with a food film and placed in the cold for a couple of hours. If time is pressing, then the infusion time can be shortened.

How to serve Greek salad

Serve the salad chilled. As a decoration, it is customary to use lemon slices, tomato slices, basil leaves. Sprinkle the salad with garlic crumbs. They can be purchased ready or made independently.

Tips from the chef

  • For a Greek salad, shrimps do not necessarily have to be fried, a very tasty dish is obtained with pickled or boiled shrimps.
  • Do not use the purchased lemon juice, it is best to do it yourself while cooking.
  • Store the Greek salad in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container so that the dish is not saturated with foreign smells.
