'Galazolin': instruction

"Galazolin" refers to vasoconstrictor drugs, is intended for topical use, is used in ENT practice.

"Galazolin": composition and form of release

The drug is available in the form of drops and gel. The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride. Gel and drops, are 0.1% and 0.05%.

Excipients

Drops: sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, disodium edetate, sodium chloride, sodium dodecahydrate, sodium hydrogenphosphate, benzalkonium chloride, sorbitol and purified water.

Gel: sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogenphosphate, benzalkonium chloride, hydroxyethyl cellulose, sodium hydrogenphosphate, glycerol, sorbitol, purified water.

The medicine "Galazolin": instruction - indications

This drug is prescribed for the following diseases:

  • Allergic rhinitis;
  • Pollinosis;
  • Acute rhinitis of bacterial or viral origin;
  • Chronic sinusitis, especially if in acute form;
  • Otitis media (in order to reduce swelling in the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx).

This medication has a lot of contraindications, so before using it, you should consult with your doctor to prescribe this drug. Your doctor will examine you and if he does not find any symptoms or illnesses that are related to contraindications, he will write it to you. Contraindications:

  • arterial hypertension;
  • Atrophic rhinitis ;
  • tachycardia;

  • Angle-closure glaucoma;

  • diabetes;
  • Lactation period;

  • Hyperplasia of the prostate;
  • Angina pectoris of III and IV degree.

Additional contraindications related to age restriction:

  • Drops 0.1% - up to 6 years;
  • Drops 0.05% - up to 2 years;
  • Gel 0,1% - up to 12 years;
  • Gel 0.05% - up to 3 years.

In medical practice, there have been no cases of overdose in adult patients. But they were observed in children.

If the child is to take the drug in large doses or if it is wrong, the result may be the ingestion of drops. As a result, active substances and components begin to enter the gastrointestinal tract. After this, the sedative effect develops , and in a pronounced form.

That's why you do not need to apply medicine in large doses when a child has a disease. From this he will not recover sooner.

Overdose can be determined by the following symptoms:
