Gail Dvoskin: "Method of Sedona" - the essence and reviews

In a modern world full of stress, more people are looking for a way to qualitatively change their lives, in order to avoid constant malaise due to negative emotions. Among all the techniques and methods, the "Sedona" method is particularly prominent - it is based on very simple exercises and has been collecting rave reviews for more than half a century. Today we will talk about the book by Gale Dvoskin, which describes the application of this technique, and we will analyze the basic points.

How and when did this method appear?

In 1952, Leicester Levenson, a successful physicist, was sent to die home after another operation. He was very sick: heart, stomach, nerves, kidneys were in terrible condition. Nobody expected that instead of death, Lester prefer another option - to live another 52 years, completely cured of all the sores and enjoying every moment of life.

He turned to a very simple technique, and it worked perfectly. Very soon there were disciples and followers, but Lester refused to be called a teacher or mentor. Over time, he moved to Arizona and opened a training center for the training of trainers and seminars. It was from the name of the city where he was located, and took the name of the method - Sedona.

After Leicester Levinson left for the world, his successor and close friend Gail Dvoskin took over the development of the method. "Method of Sedona" - a book of his authorship, which will help to master this simple and effective technique.

All ingenious is simple

"Emotions are not you" is one of the main points that need to be understood from the very beginning. Everyone can control their emotions, prevent their occurrence and get rid of them. Just the process of releasing emotions is the basis of the method.

The method of "Sedona" makes it possible to get rid of negative emotions, stop accumulating them and allow them to influence your life.

Through the liberation of emotions, freedom or tranquility is achieved. You choose how to manage your life, who you are and what you have. You are free from feelings of anxiety, anger, resentment, and manipulators can not affect you.

"Method of Sedona": 5 magical questions to myself

In fact, all exercises are built on one main and simple. You need to ask 5 questions to yourself and give answers to them. The answer is positive or negative - it does not matter. You can still let go of your feelings.

The first question. What do I feel right now?

You need to focus on your emotions and feelings at the moment. Do not go back in time and not think about the future, all thoughts are only about "here and now." Understand your feelings completely, "sort" them and choose for the future work the strongest.

The second question. Can I accept this feeling?

Consider the chosen feeling from all sides. Think about whether it has the right to exist. Think about whether you want to live with this feeling. Do you want it to affect your life?

The third question. Can I let this feeling go?

If you feel that you can release this feeling as easily as to let go of the handle from your hand or untie the cord on your boot, say yes. If the answer is no, it does not matter. The main thing here is honesty with oneself.

Question four. Do I want to let this feeling go?

Think about how you will feel better, with or without this feeling. If the answer to this question is positive, immediately ask yourself the fifth, final question: "When?" The best answer: "Now", but it happens that the decision is postponed. This is normal.

These five questions you need to ask yourself until at the first you do not answer "peace, satisfaction." Only after that the exercise is completed. At first, you may need a lot of circles, but every time you let go of emotions it becomes easier.

Immersion technique

The method of "Sedona" uses one more technique - immersion. When you need to get rid of some strong, long-concealed feeling, there is no better way than it. But you can learn to sink only after mastering the technique of liberation.

To perform this exercise, a relaxed atmosphere is recommended in which you can concentrate. Relax and start diving. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. "What lies in the depth of this feeling?"

2. "Could I knowingly penetrate the depth of this feeling?"

3. "Could I immerse myself in this feeling?"

The deeper you sink, the more the feeling sharpens. But, when you reach the "heart", you will be surrounded by silence, calm or warm light.

Nine emotional states: up the stairs

So, what is the Sedona method? The essence of it is to free oneself from negative emotions. They are like trash that accumulates in a closet. Like all unnecessary, negative emotions interfere with the flow of energy. The more a person "rubbish" in feelings, the lower on the "emotional ladder" he is and the less is his pleasure from life.

In a separate section of the book Dvoskin G. ("The Method of Sedona") identifies nine emotional states. While working on liberation, everyone can rise up, improving their health, getting rid of the heavy negative ballast.

"Emotional ladder" consists of such "steps":

9. Apathy.

8. Sadness.

7. Fear.

6. Lust.

5. Anger.

4. Pride.

3. Courage.

2. Acceptance.

1. Peace.

People who have reached peace are the happiest and happiest in the world. And this is not an exaggeration.

Resistance: a dangerous internal enemy

People love and are good at making things difficult, especially their lives. "Sedona" - a method that returns to the simplicity of thinking.

A dangerous internal enemy of many people is resistance. We were instilled with the idea that we must sail against the current in order to achieve good results. We were accustomed to the fact that everything in this life is given with great difficulty, and it does not happen otherwise. If something happens naturally, like clockwork, the resistance mode is turned on inside.

Man in essence is a free and independent being. Nobody likes the words "should", "must", "should." If you put such a framework, resistance will begin even when a person realizes that doing this is the right way.

But not only the people around are constantly trying to impose their views or duties on a person. If you force yourself, you can achieve loss of motivation and pleasure from life. For example, you worked on a project that you liked, but at some point you were tired. Instead of allowing yourself to "reboot", you ordered yourself to work on. Just one phrase: "You should (do it)" - and that's all, the process of resistance is running.

Resistance is very difficult to conquer or deceive, but it will get rid of it possibly, as well as from any emotion. It's enough just to ask, not to specify.

Restriction Tree

In one of the sections the author gives a very illustrative example in order to show what you need to work on first. Gail compares the imaginary restrictions with the forest. If you take one tree and look closely at it - you can see the "atoms" that are human thoughts.

Leaves are personal feelings. The branches on which they grow are nine emotional states. The need for the approval of others and control is transformed into the trunk of an imaginary tree. The need for security and its opposite (the desire for death) is the main root, which goes deep into the soil (the desire for independence and the desire for unity).

If a person is inclined to eradicate an imaginary tree and see the serenity and peace that is hidden behind him, one must start from the main root. For this, the book provides exercises based on five main issues.

Proper goal setting

The method of "Sedona" even penetrated into the cult film "The Secret", in which Gail Dvoskin shares with the audience the secret of the correct setting of goals. In the book there are several chapters. It is very important to learn how to choose the right words for the formulation of the goal, and not only. It can be considered a separate art.

Two main things that you should always remember:

1. The goal should be written on paper. Then the power of desire will increase several times, pulling what you want into your life.

2. Visualize the goal. Imagine it in all its details, feel it. And then release.

Almost all people worry about how to realize the goal. But you do not need to do this. All that is required is set out in two paragraphs above.

Which gets "Sedona" (method) reviews

No matter how a person struggles, this method will work for him. Reviews of people who have used this technique, say that life really gets better. Simple exercises can change everyone who will put a little effort and will allocate even a little bit of time.

"Sedona" is a method that other successful people like Brian Tracy and Steve Pavlina use and recommend to others.

The writer and psychologist John Gray also positively comments on the technique on his website as an effective way to achieve emotional and mental freedom.

The author of the bestseller "Chicken broth for the soul" Jack Canfield from this technique is delighted. He notes the simplicity of exercises and tangible results in a very short time.

Perhaps, it is the "Method of Sedona" - this is the key to peace, self-development and a happy life that you need so much ...
