Forgotten villages: causes of desolation and possible solutions to the problem

Recently, more and more villagers are trying to leave for big cities. Forgotten villages are empty, residents are fleeing in search of a better life. How many such villages across Russia - difficult to say. Why do the ancient settlements disappear, which caused the owners to leave their homes? Each uninhabited village has its own tragic history.

Problems of the Russian Village

The village has always been the main symbol of the Russian spirit. It is the cradle of a great culture and the best traditions of our country. In our time, the forgotten villages of Russia are not uncommon. More and more often one can see abandoned villages, which amaze with their sad landscapes. Rural youth seeks a better life, in a modern village without state support it is difficult to succeed. To correct a deplorable situation will help a whole range of measures aimed at improving the economy of rural economies.

Causes

Sociologists have long speculated about the reasons for the extinction of the Russian remote places. Many small settlements ceased to exist for similar reasons. The degradation of the Russian village was facilitated by many different factors:

  • Depletion of natural resources (for example, the water body that local residents used for their needs dries up);
  • Resettlement of residents due to the alleged construction of important structures;
  • Military actions (mobilization of men who subsequently did not return back);
  • Merging of small villages of the 60-70s of the last century (the goal of the Khrushchev program was to consolidate the collective farms);
  • Undeveloped infrastructure;
  • Lack of jobs (so there are old abandoned villages, from where people huddled in search of work and a better life);
  • Low prices with high costs for products that a villager can produce;
  • Villages that are living out their time (a small number of local residents, mostly elderly: young people who went to study in the city, do not return to their small homeland).

Each forgotten place has its own unique history, the 20th century in Russia was rich in events, which for the most part negatively affected the Russian village. Lembolovo in the vicinity of the northern capital was destroyed to the ground during the Great Patriotic War. After the victory of our troops, the settlement was moved north. There was a new railway station, to which the historical name was transferred. The small abolished Pitkämäki village of the Leningrad Region is now part of the larger settlement of Myaglovo.

Despite its neglect and decrepitude, the forgotten villages are a natural source of inspiration for some enthusiasts who are not afraid of difficulties. There are people who move from big cities closer to nature. What is it - a call of blood or a desire to escape from the city fuss? Whatever the development of abandoned villages is due to, probably, thanks to these migrants there will be a revival of the Russian village.

Cultural values

On the map of Russia there are regions where there are many abandoned objects of cultural heritage. The ancient landed estates, hastily abandoned by their masters during the October Revolution, beautiful churches and monasteries, where there were no services for many years. Interior decoration has long been looted, from many objects remained picturesque ruins. A rich history, the spirit of former times attract local historians and connoisseurs of antiquity.

In the vicinity of St. Petersburg there is the abolished village of Kummolovo, so ancient that the first mention of it is found in the scribes of the 16th century. On the abandoned territory is the manor house Blumenstorst. Once the luxurious construction of the architect Beretti now guessed only thanks to the ruins. The remains of an overgrown park with former plantings of fruit trees, swampy ponds, where trout were bred, stony placers in the places of the former numerous buildings preserved the historical boundary of the settlement. The reason for the destruction of the village was the occupation.

Interest in the village in our time

Now uninhabited neglected villages cause sincere interest on the part of many travelers. This direction can become a good resource for the development of tourism. Some ancient churches and manor houses have survived to our times. The desolation and gloominess of abandoned places are especially attracted to extreme and treasure hunters. Do not forget that walks on uninhabited objects can be quite dangerous. In addition to old wells and decrepit buildings, the traveler can expect snakes and wild animals.

Unfortunately, the number of old abandoned settlements is growing year by year. Perhaps, someday this problem will be solved, and Russia will be proud of its prosperous villages. And at the moment forgotten villages can cause interest only among a group of enthusiasts and stalkers.
