Face peeling: choose the best for yourself

Mechanical peeling of face skin

Mechanical peeling is usually called microdermabrasion, which is believed to be a light peel. Microdermabrasion is a procedure in which tiny particles of abrasive material "polish" the skin, gradually removing the epidermal tissue. This allows to increase the superficial regeneration of skin cells and it becomes more youthful. In this procedure, the stratified layer of the skin is partially or completely removed by slight friction. This allows you to remove the effects of sun damage from the skin, acne scars, pigmentation spots and even fine wrinkles. Microderabrasion is painless, does not require anesthesia and takes about 30 minutes. Microdermabrasion is usually recommended as a monthly procedure, which allows to maintain the achieved result.

Today, most microdermabrasion machines have a handle with a rotating rough or diamond surface, which is used to polish the skin. Currently, there are several different methods of microdermabrasion available:

Crystalline microdermabrasion: this is a traditional method that is performed with tiny crystals of aluminum oxide. Crystals with the help of compressed air are fired into the skin, clearing from it the superficial keratinized layer. Then all this is absorbed into a special container. This method is the most inconvenient method of microdermabrasion, as crystals penetrate everywhere, including the patient's eyes, nose, mouth, etc.

Diamond microdermabrasion: this method uses a rotating abrasive tip with diamond spraying. It comes in contact with the skin and erases its surface layer. This method has led microdermabrasion to a higher level and offers a more gentle way to achieve the desired result.

Chemical peeling

Chemical peeling is a procedure in which special chemicals are applied to the skin, causing a chemical burn and causing the skin to clear. The main difference between the types of chemical pebbles is the various variations in their intensity.

Chemical peeling with AHA (AHAs) is an example of a very gentle chemical peel that can be used on wrinkles, areas of dry skin, uneven pigmentation and pimples. The ANA formula consists of carboxylic acids, such as glycolic acid and lactic acid. Glycolic acid is obtained from sugar cane, and lactic acid can be found in sour milk. This peeling can cause ulcers, redness of the skin, mild irritation and dryness. To obtain the desired result, multiple treatment may be required.

Chemical peeling with beta hydroxy acids (BHA): it is now becoming more popular than ANA peeling because of its ability to penetrate deeper layers of the skin and remove dead cells to a greater extent.

Retinoic peeling: this peeling is even more profound than ANA and BHA. It is well suited for removing scars, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.

Peeling with trichloroacetic acid (TCA): this peeling is well suited for smoothing superficial wrinkles and removing pigment spots. After applying this peeling it is necessary to avoid sunlight for a while. The process of healing the skin takes from several days to several weeks and depends on the depth of impact. The penetration depth can be increased by using a higher concentration of active substances. However, increasing the concentration of more than 35% is not recommended because of the possibility of skin damage.

Phenolic peeling: one of the most powerful peels available. Phenolic chemical peeling has a very long effect. Skin improvement is usually very significant. But he can apply only once. The recovery process can take up to several months and during this period you need increased protection from sunlight. This peeling is used to remove large pigment spots and deep wrinkles. Additional effects of phenolic peeling include freckles removal and skin whitening.

ANA and BHA peelings refer to light chemical peelings. They cause minimal discomfort and are suitable for all skin types. The recovery period is very short, and the results usually become noticeable one week after treatment. The main disadvantage of this procedure is that it is ineffective in eliminating scars, and the procedure must often be repeated every few weeks to get the desired result.

TCA is a medial peeling, which is slightly more painful with respect to the previous ones. Anesthetic agents can be used to perform this procedure. The recovery period usually lasts from 2 weeks to a month.

Deep phenolic peeling is a very painful procedure and therefore it is sometimes performed under general anesthesia or severe soothing. After the procedure, the patient is usually hospitalized for 2-3 days. The rehabilitation period after this chemical peeling is very long and takes up to one and a half months. When rehabilitating, it is recommended to avoid sunlight for at least 6 months after this procedure. The results from this chemical peel are very significant.
