"Levosin" - a drug that is used to treat infected skin lesions of a variety of etiologies (wounds, burns, ulcers). The drug is available as an ointment for external use in tubes of aluminum or glass jars, packed in cardboard packs.

The drug contains the following active substances: levomitsetin, sulfadimetoksin, methyluracil, trimecaine. The auxiliary components include polyethylene oxide.

The drug has high penetrating properties in relation to the skin. It does not damage natural biological membranes.

Ointment has a pronounced local anesthetic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates regeneration processes. The pharmacological action is based on the binding of polyethylene glycol to levomycetin, sulfadimethoxin. Due to high hydration abilities, the preparation in a very short time eliminates perifocal edema, cleans wounds from purulent, necrotic contents. Methyluracil, which is a component of the drug, accelerates the healing process, stimulates the defense factors at the cell level. Trimekain has a local anesthetic effect, it has more pronounced indices than novocaine, it does not have pronounced toxic effects. Levoxin does not accumulate in tissues, it does not irritate the surface of the skin.

The drug should be used only externally. Ointment is impregnated with gauze sterile wipes (tampons), which are then superimposed on the area of the wound or loosely fill it after the initial surgical treatment (mechanical cleaning from dead tissue, washing with solutions of hydrogen peroxide). Sometimes it is permissible to administer the drug into cavities filled with pus by means of a catheter (drainage tube) using a syringe. For this, the ointment must be heated to the body temperature.

The preparation should be stored in rooms that are well protected from penetration of sunlight at temperatures not exceeding + 20 ° С. The drug is suitable for only two years. After the end of this period, its use is prohibited. Ointment is dispensed without a prescription.
