Drought is not a mysterious phenomenon, but the methods of fighting it are still unknown to man

Our planet, civilization, humanity for millennia are faced with phenomena that contribute both to their formation and development, and to destruction. Echoes of cataclysms, natural disasters daily reach even the most comfortable for living areas of the Earth. One of these phenomena, characteristic of each era and overtaking every minute of hundreds of thousands of lives, is a drought. This is an indisputable fact.

Causes of drought

Drought is a natural phenomenon characterized by a prolonged absence of precipitation and a stably high temperature of air, leading to the disappearance of plants, dehydration, famine and death of animals and humans. The causes of such destructive natural processes were revealed in the first half of the twentieth century. And the global climate phenomena themselves were named El Niño and La Niña. The phenomena with which such touching names were given consist in a prolonged temperature anomaly, the interaction of air and water masses, which with a periodicity of 7-10 years cause different parts of our planet to literally shudder from the abundance or lack of moisture.

Threats and consequences

In some areas of the Earth, storms, tornadoes and floods are raging, while others are dying from lack of water. These terrible phenomena with children's names, according to many scientists, destroyed powerful ancient civilizations, for example, the Olmecs; In the lives of a number of peoples of the American continent provoked the development of cannibalism, which seized Indian tribes in the dry years. Now the prolonged absence of rain and heat leads to massive loss of life, mainly in Africa, destroying the lakes of South America, causing serious damage to the agricultural sector of the North American continent and Europe. Therefore, there is no doubt that for mankind drought is an excuse to mobilize all its forces, knowledge and other resources in the struggle against an incomprehensible but very formidable natural enemy.

Hot summer

The drought in Russia also remains an actual phenomenon. Annually in the summer months, in a number of regions, the Emergencies Ministry introduces an emergency regime due to a stable high temperature of air coupled with an almost total absence of precipitation, which sooner or later provoke fires in vast areas. 2010 Russians remembered a thick smokescreen, stretching for thousands of kilometers. Simultaneously, forest and peat fires raged in fifteen regions of the country, destroying settlements and infrastructure together with trees. The damage to the population and the state as a whole turned out to be enormous. Residents choked with smoke, and insurance companies - from fabulous payments. Under the impact were crops of agricultural crops, as well as dairy farming, which faced an acute shortage of feed. It was in 2010 that the drought in Russia marked a new temperature record, established 70 years later, since this anomalously hot summer.

Drought in autumn: the threat of winter crops

Often drought catches agriculture in fall. It would seem that autumn is the period of rains, the first snow and temperatures relatively acceptable for plant life. However, precipitations that do not fall out in time often influence the entire crop, the areas of which are large. That is why agricultural workers keep their hands on the pulse even in the autumn.

The problem of the whole world

Billion losses, inflation jumps, famine, mass death of people and animals. All these are consequences of a drought. Every day, news flashes in the news about some or other examples of anomalous heat without precipitation. So, in 2011, the victims of drought were the inhabitants of China. The flood, which harmed more than three thousand people, was replaced by an atypical hard-to-transfer heat. The extreme drop in the water level in the Yangtze River has led to difficulties in shipping, and, as a result, has damaged many areas of activity. The failed harvest of rice created a crisis situation in the agricultural goods market.

Most recently, in December 2015, the drought literally changed the geographical characteristics of the whole country - in Bolivia, one of the largest lakes, Poopo, was destroyed by continuous heat. Due to the fact that the locals had previously existed due to fishing alone, in January 2016 a significant outflow of population was observed in this region.

The most significant impact of climate change has been on the African continent. It is from there with alarming constancy that alarming news and appeals for the collection of humanitarian aid come . The difficult situation with rebels, who deny the catastrophe and prevent the transfer of food, further exacerbates the situation. Drought in Africa is a particularly ruthless phenomenon. The world community does not leave what is happening without attention, however, a huge number of people die from year to year.

Despite the fact that humanity is making enormous steps towards its power, nature is not under his control, and with its whims, sometimes very cruel, one has only to make peace. Overtaking continents one by one, the drought confirms this.
