Do everyone know how they disperse the clouds over Moscow?

We are used to the fact that on the days of great holidays Moscow's parades and festivities are not overshadowed by bad weather. The technology of local weather improvement today is well worked out, although the history of this direction goes back centuries.

Everything depends on the weather

Any news includes a weather forecast, too much depends on it. Our ancestors prayed for rain and tried to make the clouds rain with the help of a bell ringing. With the advent of artillery began to shoot at the clouds carrying hailstones to save the harvest. But the success of these attempts was unpredictable: sometimes it turned out, sometimes it did not. Modern science has learned to control the weather at least locally. Many are interested in the question of how the clouds are dispersed over Moscow and whether it really does? Is it possible to disperse the clouds in any other place? Is it harmful? Is not climate deteriorating in neighboring areas?

Ahead of the whole planet

Russian researchers have learned to control the weather better than others. Foreign countries only adopt domestic experience. Into the issue of weather management took up in the Soviet Union in the 40-50's of the last century. At first, the dispersal of the clouds was purely utilitarian: in the spirit of that time they wanted to make the sky spill over agricultural land. The work went well, and the management of the weather ceased to be a utopia.

The accumulated knowledge was useful later in the days of the Chernobyl disaster. The goal of scientists was to save the Dnieper from radioactive contamination. The attempt was successful. If it were not for the efforts of scientists and the military, the size of the catastrophe would be much greater.

How do they disperse the clouds over Moscow today? In general, as well as 60 years ago.

Cloud overclocking technology

The first thing you need to establish how far from the right place are the rain clouds. An accurate forecast is required 48 hours before the expected time, for example, before the parade. Then study the composition and characteristics of the clouds: for each of them you need your own reagent.

The meaning of technology is that a reagent is placed in the center of the cloud, onto which moisture accumulates. When the amount of concentrated moisture becomes critical, it begins to rain. The cloud spills before the place where the cloud was directed by the air currents.

The following substances are used as reagents:

  • Dry ice (carbon dioxide) in granules;
  • Iodide silver;
  • a liquid nitrogen;
  • cement.

How do they disperse the clouds over Moscow?

To do this, treat clouds at a distance of 50 or 100 km from the place where no rain is needed.

Dry ice is used for layered clouds closest to the ground. Pour this composition on the clouds at an altitude of several thousand meters. Special navigation is used, the processed clouds are marked so that there is no re-exposure.

Layered rain clouds, which are above, get liquid nitrogen, or rather, the crystals of its vaporization. On aircraft are installed special Dewar vessels of large capacity, and liquid nitrogen is sprayed over the cloud. That's how the clouds are dispersed in Moscow with the help of chemistry known to all.

Iodine silver is placed in special meteor-cartridges and fired at high rain clouds. These dense clouds consist of ice crystals, their lifetime does not exceed 4 hours. The chemical structure of silver iodide is very similar to ice crystals. After falling into the rain cloud, foci of condensation form quickly around it, and rain soon falls. At the same time, there may be a thunderstorm or even hail, such is the property of these clouds.

However, this is an incomplete answer to the question of how the clouds are dispersed over Moscow. Sometimes they use still dry cement. Packaging of cement (a standard paper bag) is grasped by the hook. The effect of the air flow gradually ruptures the paper, and the cement is gradually blown out. There is a connection with water, and the drops fall to the ground. Cement is used to treat ascending air currents to stop cloud formation.

Is it harmful to disperse the clouds?

This issue is constantly discussed by residents of the regions bordering the Moscow region, especially Smolensk. The logic is simple: how the clouds are dispersed over Moscow on May 9, so they endless rains.

It would seem that the reagents can not bring much harm, these substances have long been well studied. However, up to 50 tons of reagents are used to disperse the clouds in one go. To date, there are no studies that could prove or disprove the harm done to nature. Environmentalists say that the chronology of precipitation is broken, and that's all.

Even judicial claims of moral harm have been recorded, but no lawsuit has so far been satisfied. The discontent of the inhabitants of the Moscow region is explained very simply: they feel unequal citizens. Residents of cities and towns surrounding Moscow, are forced to spend more or less significant holidays with rain, even if no precipitation was predicted.

However, people recognize that overclocking the clouds is simply necessary in case of threat of harvest or housing, when a hurricane or hail is expected. A large number of residents are disapproving how the clouds are dispersed in Moscow for the holidays, because they have the same holiday is completely spoiled.
