Dragon made of beads: weaving scheme

The dragon is not only a mythical character and symbol of the East, but also a very interesting piece of art. It can serve as a gift for any holiday, a useful thing (for example, a keychain) or simply to please the eye as an interior item. We suggest you learn from the following master classes how to make a dragon bead.

What do you need to work?

The necessary tools and materials for weaving nice little dragons are:

  1. Beads (the number of pieces depends on the size of the future crafts, and the colors - on your imagination);
  2. Two beads of black color (for the eye);
  3. Fishing line or special wire (length also depends on the size of the figurine);
  4. Scissors.

Small dragons

Such small dragons from beads and wire can be used as a key fob, bookmark, magnet, brooch, suspension and so on. It is enough only to attach a chain, a ringlet, a pin, a magnet or any other attachment to the finished work.

You need from 90 to 120 centimeters of thin wire, two hundred pieces of beads, at least two different colors, and scissors.

Scheme of work

Master class - a dragon from beads (weaving scheme is attached).

  1. String two beads on the wire and place them in the center (in the scheme, point A).
  2. String two more beads on one side of the wire.
  3. Pass through the last two beads the other side of the wire (in the scheme of point B).
  4. Tighten the wire. You have two rows ready (Illustration C).
  5. String three beads in the same way as strung the previous two (Figure D).
  6. Make a fourth row of five beads, as in illustration E. At the same time, on the sides and in the middle, use beads of the primary color, and between them - the color of the eyes.
  7. Continue in the same way to string rows with the following number of beads: five, three, three, three, four (Figure F).
  8. String seven beads on one of the wires and draw it back through the first four (illustration G).
  9. Tighten the wire (illustration H).
  10. Repeat step eight on the other wire (Figure I).
  11. String some more rows of beads in such quantity: four, five, six, five, four.
  12. Make paws, as in points from the eighth to the tenth.
  13. String another eight rows of beads in such quantity: four, three, three, two, two, one, one (illustration J).

Dragon with wings

In order to make a flying dragon, it is enough just to finish the wings on the other wire and attach it to the main body (for example, to the one described above).

The sequence of work on weaving the wings of the dragon (one of the options):

  1. String one bead on the wire (Figure 1).
  2. String four beads from one end of the wire and pass through them the other side (Figure 2).
  3. Repeat point two, only now string seven beads (you can alternate colors) (Figure 3).
  4. Make a row of ten beads in the same way as the previous two (Figure 4).
  5. String another row of fourteen pieces of beads, as in Figure 5.
  6. Now pass the right end of the wire through row number four (where you have ten pieces of beads) as follows: the wire is inserted into the first bead of the fourth row and is output through the second in the fifth row, then returns back to the third bead. Next, the fishing line is conducted through the row and again appears in the fifth through the fifth bead and returns to the sixth. The trick is repeated with the eighth and ninth beads. More details are shown in Figure 6.
  7. In the same way, you need to hold the left end of the wire, only in the fifth row it will pass through beads number five and nine (Figure 6).
  8. Now the left and right end of the wire must pass through the third row of beads, passing along several beads from the fourth. For the right side, these are beads numbered four and seven, and for the left side - one, four, seven, ten (Figure 7).
  9. Similarly, as in the previous paragraphs, both ends of the wire are passed through the second row, "clinging" to each second bead from the third row (Figures 8 and 9).
  10. After this, one of the ends of the wire is held in the very first bead.
  11. Further zigzag steps are passed through all the beads from the upper row.
  12. After that another bead is threaded, and the wire is returned back (Figure 10).
  13. Further, points 11 and 15 are repeated, only the wire is drawn through a second bead from the second row (Figure 11).
  14. The other end of the wire is also carried through the very first bead and makes zigzag "steps", only through the series not used in the previous paragraphs (Figure 12). An additional bead is also sewn.
  15. Add in the center a small bead (Figure 13).
  16. Draw both ends of the wire into it (illustration 14).
  17. Pass both ends of the wire through all the rows, as shown in Figure 15.
  18. Add small beads to the tips of the wing (Figure 16).

One wing is ready! Do one more to make a couple.

We attach wings to the body

If you did everything correctly, then as a result, both ends of the wire will be on the same side. Remove them from the extreme beads, as in the first picture. Connect the wing with the dragon's body, as in the detailed illustration below.

Tie knots at the ends of the wire.

Here and the flying dragon from beads is ready! For beginners this work will also not be difficult. And all thanks to a detailed scheme.

Flat dragon

The weaving of a dragon from beads should not necessarily consist in giving it some volumes. It can be made flat, for example, as a picture. To do this, you need to find in the special journals or the Internet the scheme. This does not necessarily have to be a sketchy illustration of beading, suitable for embroidering with threads.

Principle of operation:

  1. Put in front of you a leaf with a diagram.
  2. Start weaving on the flat side or with the one where the beads are the most, if you do not make a picture, but a figure.
  3. Screw in one row.
  4. Each new series is connected to the previous one in one of the ways:
  • Zigzag stitches, if one end of the wire is used;
  • If you rub two ends, then dial the series on one side and pass through the other (in the same way as described in the first master class).

Tip: If your flat dragon has many uneven elements, then weave them on another wire and weave them in the right places.

Volumetric dragon from beads (scheme attached)

Such an article can serve not only as a key fob, but a very original suspension. Additionally you will need one large bead or a beautiful bead.

Master class - a dragon from beads (weaving scheme is attached).

  1. Insert a thick wire or a thin stick into a large bead.
  2. Wrap one half of the ball next to the beads (Figure 1). Fasten the ends of the wire to the central rod.
  3. Add a few rows of beads to the first row on one side and on the other. The ball does not need to be braided anymore. Trust your imagination and make the rows multicolored, for example, as in illustration 2.
  4. Connect the two parts from the previous point. To do this, pass one and the other wire in a zigzag through the extreme beads of each side. Through one or two beads, weave in addition one bead of another shape, thus making a ridge. As a result, you will get the same as in Figure 3.
  5. From the side where the wire came out, your dragon will have a neck. You can further weave as one line, and two. Add a few more rows of beads to make the neck look more authentic (Figure 4). Connect the new series with the previous zigzag "steps".

The body and neck of the dragon are ready!

The head of a three-dimensional dragon

Master class, how to make a dragon bead:

  1. The head of the dragon knits in a circle with the same wire that the whole body and neck.
  2. Take an additional two beads of a different shape and color from the others. It will be eyes.
  3. Start the weaving according to the attached diagram. It clearly shows in which order and how to add beads. In the center of the drawing, red dots represent the last row of the dragon's neck.
  4. Tighten the wire with beads.

The head of the dragon is ready.

We finish the weaving of a three-dimensional dragon

What real dragon without a scallop on his head and tail?

Instructions how to make a scallop:

  1. Add several rows of beads.
  2. Figure 1 shows how the first row of the comb is added. Make it so that the peak falls to the level of the neck, and closer to the nose the row becomes lower (Figure 2).

Instructions how to make a tail:

  1. Add a row of beads, connecting it with the main body in zigzag stitches. Keep the color order of the beads.
  2. Do a few more rows of beads, gradually reducing their number. The number of rows depends on the length of the tail you want (Figure 1).
  3. The end of the tail will consist of one bead.
  4. Add two scallops to the end of the tail (illustration 2). Scheme of work is the same as when weaving a scallop for the head.

Volumetric dragon is ready! If desired, you can add a small ring on the line, which connects the scallop and head. For him, then you can attach a craft on a key or chain.

Weaving the dragon from beads, whether it is voluminous or flat, is quite an entertaining exercise, to which you can attract children.
