Doberman - characteristics of the breed, description. Features of Education

Many dog lovers believe that Dobermans have an uncontrollable temper and an unbalanced psyche. A different opinion about this breed is professional cynologists. They believe that the Doberman, whose description of the breed we will consider below, is an extremely clever, easily learned, infinitely devoted animal to its master. Who is right in this correspondence dispute? In this article we will introduce you to Doberman dogs. Characteristics of the breed will help to identify all the advantages and disadvantages of these animals.

History of the breed

Doberman, reviews about which are different (this we will talk about later) is a German popular breed. Its name was given in honor of the first breeder - Carlos Dobermann. He was a tax collector, but in addition, he had a knacker, and therefore had the right to catch homeless animals. Of these, he selected "butcher dogs" (as Rottweilers were sometimes called in Germany), which by then were considered to be a fully formed breed. Therefore, these dogs played an important role in the creation of Dobermans. Carlos Luis created the breed, knowing exactly what he wanted to achieve as a result of the selection work. First of all, it was important for him that the dog was a good defender. Unfortunately, Dobermann did not leave a record of his work. It is known that at one of the exhibitions he bought two puppies, from which a black-and-red bitch later appeared. Then it was crossed with some breeds, including the "butcher's dog".

In addition, shepherd dogs, the Thuringian shepherd (today disappeared) and the hunting dog of the Vemory were used in breeding. The latter added to representatives of the Doberman breed a bluish tint to the basic color.

The Doberman, obtained as a result of breeding work, whose breed characteristics fully corresponded to the requirements of the breeder, received official recognition in 1898 after the death of its creator. The official name of the breed has changed. If before these dogs were called Thuringian pinchers, then after recognition they received the name "Doberman Pinscher". The qualities of the Dobermans were appreciated in the army and the police. The animals received another unofficial name - a gendarme dog.

External Features

These animals have long been recognized as one of the most beautiful in the canine world. Slim, muscular, long-legged and lean - dobermanns look like real athletes. Their beautiful muzzle is slightly elongated and graceful. The posture is proud, the constitution is elegant, with a slightly protruding withers, wide deep chest and sloping croup. Weight dobermann (male) from 40 to 45 kilograms with an increase from 68 to 72 cm females are slightly smaller.

Doberman: Ears

Most often we see these handsome men without a tail and with triangular, high-set sharp ears. Their form has changed several times. At first, these were small triangles, and lately very high ears have come into fashion. This indicator is the merit of the owner, since the correct setting of the ears is a rather complicated and painstaking work. For this, various devices are used, including crowns, which give them the correct shape.

Nevertheless, in many countries, including Germany, deformation of the ears and stopping of the tails are not recommended. If you dream of your pet becoming a participant of international exhibitions, then you need to buy a lop-eared puppy with a tail.

Wool

The coat of these animals is very pleasant to the touch. Smooth and elastic hairs fit tightly to the skin. Undercoat does not have a Doberman. Characteristics of the breed indicates the presence of only two colors - dark brown and black with clear, bright tan marks of reddish color.

Maintenance and care

It is the features of the coat that categorically forbid the keeping of the dog in the booth or aviary. Doberman, whose breed characteristics indicate that this animal can not be considered a "sofa" pet, an active and athletic dog. She needs long walks and heavy physical exertion. At the same time, it should be remembered that the Doberman should not be allowed to run without a leash only in a deserted place.

These dogs easily tolerate the heat and moods of the off-season, but in winter it is better to shorten walks in severe frosts. You can use a warm overalls - then your energetic pet can enjoy a long winter walk. Care for these dogs is minimal: they practically do not shed, are absolutely not afraid of water, do not have an unpleasant smell.

Doberman, characteristics of the breed: character

There is an opinion that the Doberman is a choleric by the type of the nervous system - he is stubborn, he is not trained well. This opinion is not shared by experienced cynologists and owners of these wonderful dogs.

In fact, the Doberman (the owners' testimonies confirm this) are not just an alert and attentive guardian and defender, but also a great companion, which perfectly coexists with the family.

This clever dog strikingly delicately feels the mood of his master and behaves accordingly. Doberman is a wonderful friend, but he becomes such only for a kind and intelligent person.

Future masters should know that the Doberman is getting a little nervous, especially with a sharp change in the situation. If your house has an aggressive cat or other animal, then their acquaintance should be gradual.

It should be said about a special, emphatically respectful attitude towards children. As soon as the child starts walking alone, he immediately falls into the care of a four-legged friend. It is interesting to observe how this large and strong dog gently and gently plays with the kids. Many cynologists believe that if you need a dog for a child, you should get a puppy from North America. There the breeders achieved amazing results in combating the aggression of these animals, completely eliminating the possibility of the dog attacking a person. As for the attitude towards strangers, it can be said that in all Dobermans it is equally cautious and aggressive.

Owners of these dogs should know that a pet can easily provoke an attack on unfamiliar dogs and people. Given the size of the animal and its strength, you should always walk your pet on a strong leash with a wrist loop and a muzzle. Here I would like to note that timely and correctly conducted adaptation and training of the puppy can significantly reduce the risk of such reactions.

Dobermanns refer to dogs who always warn of an attack by a fetal low growl. As a rule, this is enough for the opponent to back off.

This dog barks very rarely. In the room such a sound is like a bomb explosion - all living things in this case will be stunned, except for the Doberman himself.

Education

This breed needs early education. Doberman really needs long walks, but only they can not influence the formation of the character and habits of your pet. This dog needs education and training.

It should be noted that this is an amazingly observant and thinking animal. Dobermanu once you feel the slack of your position, and he will enjoy it for your own pleasure. Therefore, be consistent and persevering even when you are facing not a formidable guard, but a charming and affectionate puppy.

From an early age, the smart kid easily and joyfully learns new lessons. I must say that work and study are the Doberman's favorite activities. For the puppy it is necessary to observe very carefully. If he lost interest in the lesson or is tired, it is better to finish training. Of course, you can force the dog to do something, but we assure you that in the next lesson, he will find a thousand ways to not unpleasant command to him to perform. And with the Doberman's obstinacy, not everyone can cope.

It should be remembered that from nature the Doberman breed is quite aggressive. Do not experiment, do not provoke a dog, do not develop anger in it. Especially it concerns puppies or teenagers. His innate malice and incredulity is more than enough to ensure that with competent training at the appropriate age, he turned out to be an excellent guard.

The cost of a puppy

For sure, many dog lovers dream of purchasing a Doberman breed. The price of a puppy consists of several factors. A dog of this breed can not be purchased from the hands or on the bird market, despite very attractive rates. After all, usually there sell animals without documents. In addition, the buyer is deprived of the opportunity to see the parents of the baby.

Unscrupulous sellers use the credulity of future owners and sell puppies for 4-6 thousand rubles, "forgetting" to mention that before you is not at all a Doberman, but a half-breed, who knows who crossed.

It should be noted that it is quite difficult to notice the substitution of this breed in the pedigree. And how the Doberman's "hybrid" behaves, it's hard to imagine. Therefore, it is necessary with special care to approach the acquisition of a Doberman dog. The price of the puppy (average) for today makes from 18 to 25 thousand rubles.

Proven well-known nurseries, in which we recommend you to purchase a puppy, offer the following prices:

  • Pet-class (a dog with small deviations from the standard, ideally suited as a pet) - 8-20 thousand rubles;
  • Brid-class (animal for breeding) - 20-30 thousand rubles;
  • Show class (a dog with an excellent pedigree) - from 30 thousand rubles.

Owner feedback

Most dog breeders with Dobermans are very happy with their pets. These are excellent guards that do not require complex care. The Doberman gets along well with all members of the family, is very kind to children.

However, experienced owners do not recommend starting such a dog to beginners who do not have experience with dogs. With improper education, an inexperienced owner can grow an ungovernable and aggressive monster who will dictate his living conditions in the house.
