How some become artists

When there are no people involved in art in the family, the sudden, spontaneous desire of the son to become an artist was perceived with hostility. And indeed, the young man who graduated from school, had documents prepared for admission to the medical institute. A mother doctor dreamed that her son would follow in her footsteps. However, a friend with persuasions of freedom in life, the lack of strict discipline made Dmitry dramatically change his plans. As a result, his brother fulfilled the dream, and Shorin, having shown his character and upset his parents, entered the Omsk State Pedagogical University. What will happen to him later, he did not look far, studying for a costume designer.

But a year later he decided to leave his native Omsk and go to the city on the Neva. For the artist, the habitat, common thoughts, fresh impressions and ideas are important. They can only be found in a large city and find their handwriting.

What was the new life like?

Life of the artist was not the same as it was drawn to a friend. The beginning was difficult. There was an acute shortage of money, an abundance of competitors, critics and ill-wishers. Enter a narrow circle of people, but only a dozen or so, to achieve the first personal exhibition was very difficult. Dmitry Shorin made an almost unreal breakthrough. He walked a lot and now he always goes to discos, because there is a young, genuine life boiling, people have vivid emotions. In clubs and at parties, Dmitry Shorin communicates with his acquaintances, looks at how the youth began to differ from the young people of his youth.

There's music that he loves. The artist is imbued with impressions, which later turn out to be useful. So, having got acquainted with Sergey Shnurov, he created together with him the work "Letnoe pole", which is located in the new terminal of Pulkovo airport.

How inspiration comes

Dmitry Shorin does not sit and wait for inspiration to come to him and he will create a masterpiece. He just works on himself, constantly improving in his skill. The creative process goes on constantly. It does not depend on time and place. The head is so constantly busy with thoughts about work that it does not rest even at night. And sometimes dreams come in a dream. And in the morning the new sketch is taken by Dmitry Shorin. The artist, despite the family, and maybe thanks to her (he has two daughters), does not relax. The artist prefers canvas and oil to all materials. Acrylic paints and synthetic canvas painter does not like. It is irritated by sounds that produce synthetic materials. Most of all he likes working with the composition, with color, with the transfer of his design on the canvas.

Work sometimes goes quickly, around the clock, without breaks for sleep. So sorry for the artist to break away from work. Then the time of writing the picture is from three to seven days. If the picture does not like, then he can destroy it. At home he does not keep his paintings. They are either immediately sold, or sent to the gallery. Shorin, strangely enough, does not have a favorite artist, whose work he would admire, as it does not happen in museums. He is attracted only by music and cinema. He dreams of trying himself in the role of director, especially since at home there is a ready script. There are no favorite books either. But Shorin loves to read, forgetting about everything, plunging into two or three days into the book, finding in it something new that puts him in front of a problem that should be solved. He is always curious about posing a new question and his unusual resolution.

Paintings by Dmitry Shorin

D. Shorin, not getting carried away by one type of girl, still puts our contemporary at the center of their work. His girls are similar, and do not look like American "pin-ups", looking at which, he thinks himself, gets inspiration. His girls are much less coquettish and sexy, more "heavy" and "weighty", if I may say so. They feel the presence of pumped up musculature. And no airiness and romance. They are very down to earth. Some, even wearing fashionable glasses, remain themselves, and it is glasses that emphasize the momentary nature of the created image. Now she is bright and fashionable, and after a year the glasses will go out of fashion, and the girl who can not take them off will seem stragglerous from the modern trends, outdated.

A bouquet of dreams - so you can call canvases from the exhibition "Holiday". In the "Celebrations" of the artist about forty paintings. Very nice work "Melody", the heroine of which reminds young Audrey Hepburn. Very nice painting "Divorce", on which the hero was freed from bonds and enjoys freedom, which is symbolized by a faded white fluffy dandelion. Only dun, and he will fly to all four directions. Grace! Just like our lonely and happy hero.

A soap bubble is free, which detached itself from a piece of soap and foam and now, free, flies wherever it is necessary. The same can be said about the "Swing". It is a flight to nowhere, a temporary separation from earthly affairs and worries, to which each hero will have to return. But at the moment they are happy. Apparently, the theme of freedom is very much occupied by the artist. His "Holidays" is a game of reality. The girl who bought a new car, perhaps on credit, affectionately pressed to the steering wheel, as a loved one. The "new machine", the so-called picture, is for her alive and replaces her true human feelings.

Instead of concluding

To any of the holidays a person treats differently. For someone it is a pleasant opportunity to give a loved one, for someone - to receive a long-awaited gift. But why wait for them, when you can fill a festive mood every weekday. "Holidays" by Dmitry Shorin - a return to childhood, which all had different, and he makes it the same for everyone.
