Dinosaurs in the museums of Moscow: what, where and when

In Russia, museums in which you can see the bones of giant ancient lizards are found in many large cities. If you want to immerse yourself in the era of dinosaurs with your head, then certainly visit one of these institutions, for example, in the capital of our homeland. Dinosaurs in museums in Moscow, of course, are not real, but only in the form of skeletons, but this does not make them less interesting and surprising for true connoisseurs of natural science.

The Paleontological Museum in Moscow

The trip to it will be especially interesting for children, because they are naturally curious and curious. Children are interested in all the unusual and unnatural. Dinosaurs in museums in Moscow will cause a lot of impressions of the child.

One of the museums is named after Yu.A. Orlova. It is by right one of the largest institutions in the world devoted to natural history. Paleontological Museum. Yu.A. Orlova is an integral part of the Institute of the same name, dedicated to the evolution of the organic world, which originated 65 million years ago on our planet. To see the skeletons of dinosaurs (the museum works from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 to 18 hours), you can go to Profsoyuznaya Street, d.123. The organizers of the exhibition conduct excursions, which you can pre-register on a preliminary call.

How to get there

The route by which you can get there is uncomplicated. For example, you can go to the streets of Academician Kapitsa, Vvedensky, Ostrovityanov or through Novoyasenevsky Prospekt. This is the route that most accurately takes you to the museum of dinosaurs. "Warm mill" is a metro station, on which you should exit if you decided to get to this museum by train.

What can I see there

The exposition area of the Paleontological Museum is almost 5 thousand square meters. Exposition, decoration and interior allow visitors to plunge into the epoch and atmosphere that reigned throughout the main time of the existence of our planet. Here, with the example of several thousand different exhibits, one can follow all the stages of the formation of the organic world on Earth.

The Moscow Museum of Dinosaurs (pictured in the article) consists of several large halls. In the first, you can familiarize yourself with paleontology as a science and learn in detail what paleontologists are doing. In the second you plunge into the era of the Early Paleozoic, with your own eyes you will see rock prints of ancient plants, shells of mollusks that lived about 200 million years ago, etc.

Of course, there are no dinosaurs in the second room, since at that time the invertebrates living in the aquatic environment mostly lived. Nevertheless, within the framework of this article we are interested in the ancient lizards. Their skeletons can be seen in the last halls of the Moscow paleontological museum. They cause the greatest excitement among the public. It is understandable. So, what are the most vivid and interesting dinosaurs in the museums of Moscow?

Tyrannosaur

In this natural-historical institution there is, perhaps, one of the most ice-cold exhibits - the skeleton of a dinosaur-titan! This is the most important lizard of all time and epoch of our planet. According to experts, he lived in the west of modern North America (then - the island of Laramidia) about 65 million years ago. Tyrannosaurs were one of the last lizherotazovyh animals, living out their own time already on the "sick" planet. As you know, trouble has overtaken them from outer space. Tyrannosaurs crowned themselves with the era of dinosaurs.

Diplodocus

Another bright representative of the ancient lizards, whose solid skeleton adorns itself with one of the halls of the Paleontological Museum of the capital of our homeland, is diplodok. These giants existed during the so-called Jurassic period and died out about 150 million years ago. The Diplodocus had truly giant dimensions of a sluggish but long body.

It is the size that glorified them: the Diplodocus have become widely known as one of the longest dinosaurs in the lifetime of the lizards on Earth. According to some paleontologists, Diplodocus reached 55 meters in length, and weighed up to 112 tons. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of scientists and researchers, this species of lizards is one of the most studied among all the dinosaurs that ever inhabited our planet.

Where else in Moscow can you see dinosaurs

Dinosaurs in museums in Moscow are not the only extinct reptiles, you can look at the surviving skeletons by visiting the capital of our homeland. For example, in December 2014 an exhibition called "City of Dinosaurs" was opened at VDNKh (now - VVC). You can get to it at the address: Moscow, VDNH, pavilion №57. According to the organizers, the exhibition will run until March 11, 2015.

It should be noted that this is not a full-fledged demonstration of the true skeletons of the ancient lizards, but just an animated entertainment event for children. This includes the educational program in the form of a scientific laboratory, where children can take part in the excavation of dinosaurs (a giant sandbox is represented). The program includes a 3D cinema, and an attraction in which you can tame and even ride the ancient reptile.
