Diet for gout: what foods should I refuse

The reason for the development of gout is the violation of excretion of uric acid from the body, for example, with kidney or liver damage. The attack of gout begins, as a rule, unexpectedly. The main symptoms in this case are severe pain in the joints of the feet or less often the hands. The inflamed joint swells up, the skin in its area acquires a purple hue. Also, the temperature usually rises to 38 degrees, it lasts for several days. During the study of the patient's blood, there is an increased content of uric acid in her. In urine, however, its level, on the contrary, is lower than normal, since its removal from the body is slow.

The impetus to the attack of gout can serve eaten on the eve in excessive quantities of meat dishes, especially in combination with alcohol. In addition to those who do not eat well, there are also people at risk who are sedentary and do not engage in physical education. Gout is often combined with diabetes mellitus or atherosclerosis, cholelithiasis. Over time, due to the destruction of cartilage, with this disease there is a persistent curvature of the joints, sometimes leading to complete immobility.

Treatment of an acute attack of gout is carried out in a hospital. His goal first of all is to remove the pain syndrome and relieve the inflammation, that is, to alleviate the condition of the patient. Cure of this disease is impossible, however, observing medical recommendations, which includes a special diet for gout, it is quite possible to avoid new attacks.

Those diagnosed with this disease are shown sparing physical activity and regular walks in the fresh air. The food should be moderate. The diet for gout supposes the restriction of meat (especially, by-products and strong broths), and also some vegetables, for example, sorrel, spinach, radish. These products are rich in so-called purine bases - substances that form uric acid. If in your diet they are present in large quantities, with the slightest violation of kidney function, there are all chances to earn this unpleasant disease - gout. Treatment, diet and other activities with it do not give one hundred percent guarantee that the attack will never happen again. However, they allow to reduce its probability to a minimum.

On the question of what can not be eaten with gout, you can answer in the following way: in addition to meat products, during an exacerbation, fish and mushrooms, fish caviar, salty and spicy cheese are also prohibited. In addition, the number of animal fats should be limited. Of vegetables, other than those listed above, cauliflower and legumes are contraindicated, from berries - cranberries and raspberries. Diet with gout requires a complete rejection of mustard and horseradish, as well as hot pepper. Under strict prohibition - chocolate, cocoa, strong coffee and tea: all these products can cause an exacerbation of the disease.

Sick gout is allowed to eat fruits, berries and vegetables (except those listed above), as well as dried fruits. You can drink sour milk products and milk, there is cottage cheese. A day is allowed to eat one egg, cereals in moderation. The food is cured with butter or vegetable oil. Low-fat varieties of meat and fish are allowed not more than three times a week, 150-160 grams, in a boiled form.

Diet with gout involves a five-time diet. The patient needs to drink plenty of fluids - at least 2.5 liters per day. This includes a broth of wild rose, a weak tea with lemon, fruit and berry juices, kvass and compotes. Vegetables can be eaten both fresh and sour. From sweets are allowed marmalade, pastilles and marshmallows. You can eat nuts (hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds).

Duration of restrictions in food is established by the attending physician. The diet should last at least a few weeks, ideally it would be good to comply with it constantly.
