"Decameron". The summary of the work

Not everyone read "Decameron". In school, this clearly does not pass, and in everyday life, books are almost no books. And it is not fashionable for today's young people to read ... It reminds a bit of the Middle Ages, when people who knew a lot were condemned by society. But this, however, is the lyrics. To the work of "Decameron" the summary is very hard to cite. After all, the book itself is a collection of short stories devoted to the theme of love in all its manifestations.

History in History

Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio is the author of the work "Decameron." In essence, the author himself could not summarize the content, as the structure of the whole work is a lot of small short stories that unite the main line of the plot. This book was published in the Renaissance, around 1354. "Decameron" content is very controversial, because for those times such literature was, on the one hand, and completely forgivable, but on the other hand, was considered somewhat vulgar. The name itself translates as "Ten Days" and is a kind of sarcastic mockery of the author over the church "Szhestnydnev". The work tells about the creation of the world, but not by God, and then by society, and not for six days, but for ten.

The book is in brief

And now directly "Decameron". Summary of short stories: the events take place during the time of the plague of 1348. Three noble young men and seven ladies leave the affected city for a villa two miles from it. In order to spend time with interest, they in turn begin to tell each other entertaining stories. By the way, quite a lot of short stories were created on the basis of folklore, ancient jokes, religious-moralizing examples from the sermons of priests and much more.

"Decameron" - a short summary of the life of the storytellers

Each new day begins with a small screen saver, which tells how young people spend their time. It is worth noting that the description is rather utopian, in the framework of morality and upbringing. But the novels themselves are directly opposed to this utopia. In them, figuratively speaking, the "feast during the plague" comes through, threading every line with a red thread. The narrative begins in the morning of Wednesday and for each day there are ten novels. In them you can see all the manifestations of love - from sexual context and to tragedy with cruelty.

Every day, except Friday and Saturday, the king (queen) is chosen who assigns themes for the story, and all participants should adhere to them except for Dioneo, who owns the privilege of "free narration". After listening to all the stories, young people sit and discuss them, exchange impressions. At the end of each day, one of the ladies present sings a ballad. These songs are samples of Boccaccio's lyrics, and they tell of pure love or the sufferings of those lovers who do not have the opportunity to unite. Given the weekend, young people spend two weeks at the villa, after which they decide to return to the city.

"Decameron". Conclusion

All novels are made in a special style. For the Renaissance, this was some innovation, since the book was not written in a literary, generally accepted language, but on a lush colloquial Italian. Boccaccio himself spoke of his offspring as a "human comedy".
