Space fiction - the ladder to the sky

Fiction more than another genre of literature, can awaken readers' interest and flight of thoughts, vastly expand the boundaries of thinking, immersing not only in the unpredictability of the future, but also in the inexplicability of the past. Space fiction is the most magical section of this genre, conquering space and time, while at the same time compelling to think about solving absolutely earthly, long overdue and topical problems.

Features of the genre

Fantastic assumption and the very notorious element of the extraordinary, transcending all boundaries of reality and customary conventions, does not at all prevent us from remaining in the zone of habitual human relations, with all their nuances, exploits and betrayals, attachments and rejections. It is not in vain that the best samples are born at the junction of genres - cosmic epics feed on both warning anti-utopias and even social satire. Psychological dramas, social themes are often the basis of the book, space fantasy is just a method of communicating basic life postulates to the reader. So much of the treasury of the world literature of this section is written, so did Shackley, Bradbury, Azimov, Lem, Heinlein, Strugatsky, all the classics of the genre are worth it. Even the disappointment in progress and science, as well as the booming fantasy boom (Howard, Tolkien, Zelazny and others) with its mysticism, mythological basis and long forgotten romance, did not prevent the development of such a powerful channel as space fiction. Often new methods simply flowed into the general flow, enriching the genre. Such, for example, is a science fiction novel in four parts of the famous American Dan Simmons.

Dan Simmons

This is the best space fiction to date. In addition to the most interesting plot and a sharply twisted plot, even in translation there is a wonderful language of the author, which holds the reader throughout all the books - up to the very last line. And this is not at all a merit of the plot, the reader clearly feels it: the book is not "swallowed" with unbroken chunks, everything, even the most intense plot twists and turns are carried out slowly, with great taste and without fear of stress-intensifying repetitions. In the first novel there are six novels, according to the number of main characters. The action mainly takes place in the Hyperion universe, which gave the name to the first two parts: Hyperion, which was released in 1989 and received two literary awards by 1990 - Hugo and Locus, and The Hyperion Fall, written in 1990 and Already rewarded in 1991. The continuation of this exciting cycle - "Endymion" (1996) and "The Rise of Endymion" (1997) - also without a literary prize has not been avoided.

Fabula

Hijra - the resettlement of earthlings to other planets, has become irreversible, since everyone loved the cradle of humanity - the Old Earth - either destroyed, or stolen and hidden in a secluded corner of outer space. The author attaches great importance to the well-established construction of the hierarchy of the intergalactic social system: the hegemony, the technocenter and its X-rays, the "vagabonds" (the first astronauts who adapted to life in space conditions, opposing Hegemony). The religious component of the new social order is equally detailed and clearly marked. English poetry (Shakespeare, especially Keats) flows into the narrative naturally, like a stream to the lake. Humanity, as usual, stands on the brink of destruction, but the monsters are tamed, the secrets began to unfold, time followed the example of space and submitted to the initiates.
