Curtains made of organza. Universal Window Decor

Organza is a thin and fairly rigid translucent or transparent fabric from the interlacing of silk, viscose and polyester fibers. Extreme popularity of this takna for curtain designers is explained by its versatility and a wide variety of types, colors, textures. Curtains from organza can be chosen for an interior, made in any style. It can be decorated with a convex gold or silver spraying classic draperies or thin, transparent, almost weightless curtains in a romantic room, playful cheerful curtains in children's or transparent sliding curtains, frames for a minimalist room. But, perhaps, the main advantage of the fabric in its lightness and airiness, creating a subtle ephemeral decor, slightly dimming the light from the window, but not interfering with its penetration into the room, as well as not "eating" the visual space, which is very important for small rooms. Another important advantage of the material is its versatility. A dense and at the same time transparent structure allows you to create an unlimited number of decors, various draperies, folds, styles.

Organza curtains do not block a wonderful view from the window, if any, but can also mask unsightly street pictures with a bright colored pattern. Draperies from this fabric look beautiful in themselves and perfectly complement other curtains. Organza can be used as part of a combined curtain, for example to the sill of the curtain is sewn from the organza, and from the window sill to the floor of dense fabric of the same or contrasting color. You can sew in transparent curtains at the window level with transparent inserts, round or rectangular, made up of small individual segments or two large details simulating a fantasy window.

Since light transparent curtains of organza play in the room are mostly an aesthetic role, one should think about how to present them more unusual and original. For example, using non-standard cornices. For example, put on a thin curtain on a semicircular cornice attached to the ceiling near the window, and at the level of the window sill to collect each panel with decorative stitch. More original way - two mobile small brackets (similar to those used for towels in the bathroom), attached perpendicular to the wall from two sides above the window. If necessary, their position can be changed, pushing and opening the window completely, or by sliding and covering it.

How to sew curtains from organza yourself? This fabric is easy to handle, well-ironed (when wet with a non-flammable iron), is rubbed off. The main thing when sewing curtains - to correctly take measurements and do not forget to leave allowances on the filing on top and bottom. The easiest way is to cut two panels along the height of the window, bend about 5 cm from the bottom and sew, to bend a centimeter of fabric on top and sew a transparent tape. Often the fabric footage in stores is calculated not by the height of the window, but by its width. Therefore one wide cloth should be cut in half in the center. In such cases, the side sections are processed by a thin silk roll. There are transverse canvases with a processed bottom edge, in which a weighting agent (a thick capron cord) is inserted. Such curtains are only sewn on top.

You can try, and, let's say, giving up traditional hooks and rings, sew to the curtain beautiful decorative loops from the same fabric. To do this, cut out a long piece with a width of 12 cm, fold it in half, stepping back 1 cm from the edge, squeezing and turning it to the front. The resulting ribbon width of 5 cm is cut into separate pieces, folded in half and applied to the top of the curtains at equal distance from each other from the front side, combining them with the upper cut of the fabric. Then the top of the curtains is treated with a wide cut-off bake, and it is smoothed inside out. Decorative hinges should be located between the curtain and the blind. Near the base of each loop, sew a small rosette assembled from a narrow strip of the same organza or satin ribbon, or a large decorative button, covered with a cloth. The curtain is threaded through the hinges and then fixed to the side brackets.
