Cows: the "Holstein" and "Simmental"
Pedigree cows give much more milk than ordinary cows. Practically, with the same feed costs and applied care efforts, a much better result can be obtained. Therefore, many farmers and just villagers often wonder which breed is best for selection for content. After all, the profitability of the economy can directly depend on this. In this article we will consider in more detail the characteristics of the two most valuable breeds, which include Simmental and Holstein.
Simmental breed of cows
Simmentalki - cows of meat and milk. They very quickly gain weight. At the same time, the final yield of meat can be up to 60%. As for milk yield, the productivity in this respect depends very much on the zone of Russia in which the animal is kept. However, on average, it is about 3 - 5 thousand kg for lactation.
In addition, the cows of the Simmental breed can withstand unfavorable climatic conditions, and sometimes economic ones. The only thing that must be observed without fail - to harvest for the winter as much as possible hay. Its number is calculated on the basis that one animal per day should receive it at least 8 - 10 kg.
Holstein breed of cows
Cows of the breed "Holstein" differ in developed musculature and strong constitution and can reach a weight of 750 kg. The weight of bulls reaches 1200 kg. For the lactation period, a good cow can give up to 8 - 10 thousand kg of milk. At the moment it is the most highly productive breed.
In many farms, breeding material from Holstein cows is used for the genetic improvement of local livestock. Usually it helps to increase milk yield, but sometimes it reduces the lethal yield of meat. In the latter case, at least everything depends on the quality of the bull-producer.
