Lee Son Mang - the first president of South Korea

On the world map, there are countries whose peoples are artificially divided for ideological reasons. These include North and South Korea. The bipolar world has long since sunk into oblivion, and these states are still not reunited, one people is raising two countries. A significant role in this story was played by the Korean politician Lee Seung Man. This man led the American part of the divided country. To this post he walked long and hard. This man comes from an impoverished aristocratic family. But his family had a connection with the royal, which played a big role in his life. Date of birth of Lee Son of Man on March 26, 1875. At the age of twenty he joined the pro-American organization "Club of Independence." Probably, in those days it was progressive for Korea. Li Son Man wanted changes in the political system, the development of the country's economy.

Two years later, the King of Korea appointed a young man to be a member of the Privy Council. However, the intuition failed, as well as the lack of experience. Lee Son Mang was arrested for taking part in the organization of events directed against the policy of the government. The young man was put behind bars. The conclusion lasted until 1904. After his release, he immediately left his native country and headed to the United States, where he spent more than forty years. During this time he received the diplomas of three universities, among which is listed Harvard. Man advanced in the study of sciences related to the development of the economy and state construction.

Lee Son of Man has suffered a lot of grief in the casemates, and ties with the royal dynasty have not greatly helped him. But he did not depart from his principles. In 1919, a group of activists proclaimed the Korean Republic. Our hero led the government of this education in exile. He led a fairly active political activity. He demanded the transfer of Korea under the US protectorate. During the Second World War, he severely criticized Roosevelt for his desire to cooperate with the Soviet Union. He considered this country to be his ideological opponent and was eager to defeat her. But as they say, it did not work out. Luck smiled after him in 1945. There was an opportunity to move home. During the Yalta Conference there was no talk of this country. Korea at that time was on the margins of world politics. But the situation made her one of the centers of events. After the defeat of the Kwantung group, the Soviet troops stopped at the 38th parallel. With the Americans agreed in working order.

In 1948, when the Cold War was gaining momentum, the two groups left the territory of Korea, leaving their consultants. The country was divided in half. In the southern part, there was an active preparation for democratic elections. Lee Syn Mans took an active part in it. By that time, he already headed the pro-American organization Democratic House of People's Representatives. In 1948, he was nominated for the post of president of the Republic of Korea, later renamed South. Man was reelected three more times, most recently in 1960.

The head of this politician was quite brutal. He advocated that American troops never leave his country. In relations with North Korea, he did not take any peace initiatives. He demanded that the American curators help to conquer this territory by force. Lee Son Man, whose political portrait is now trying to embellish, was a man of iron principles, not inclined to compromise. He considered it a matter of honor to unite Korea on the principles of democracy. And this was possible only with weapons, the northern part of the country was not going to give up. On the other hand, he did a lot for the development of the state economy: attracted investment, promoted business activities. However, his reactionary attitude towards his neighbor left him in exile again.

In 1960, the people of South Korea raised an uprising, which resulted in the resignation of the government of Lee Seung Man. People who survived the civil war (1950-1953), did not want to continue the carnage. The disgraced ruler again went to a foreign land. His way this time lay on the Hawaiian Islands (USA). There he died in 1965, not understood and not forgiven by fellow citizens.
