Correct watering of cabbage
Many summer residents put on their plots favorite white cabbage. However, not everyone at the end of the season is happy to enjoy a good harvest. Most often the reason is that not all amateur gardeners know how to properly water cabbage.
The most common is the watering of cabbage on specially made furrows, but it has its drawbacks. It should not be used on sandy and sandy loamy lands. Immediately after planting, this method of irrigation is better not to be used, since young and still weak roots of the plant will not reach the water, therefore at this time it is better to pour water into the basal zone.
Watering cabbage sprinkling can be used for any relief and on any ground. The drawbacks of this method include energy costs and the formation of a dense crust on the soil surface. On small parts of the earth, it is possible to use pulsating-type installations. Water is supplied to them under the pressure with the help of a hose. Now there are such models of these installations that can regulate the radius of capture of the water jet.
New and more perfect is the drip irrigation method, more accurately drip irrigation. For each plant, water is fed through hoses. Its quantity is regulated by means of special devices - droppers. This method is extremely effective:
- It is possible to use it on any soils and reliefs;
- Water is supplied pointwise - row spacing is kept dry, which allows for various work;
- Water comes only where it is needed.
Often beginning gardeners and truck farmers ask the question: "How often to water cabbage?" If the weather is hot and dry, then it is recommended to water it no less than eight days. If the soil contains a lot of sand, more frequent watering is required. You will be able to determine that the plant lacks moisture due to a weak increase in the green mass. The same sign can speak of a lack of nutrients. If the leaves of cabbage become pale, then it lacks nitrogen. If the leaves and the petiole appear purple, there is not enough phosphorus, dry spots on the leaves and dry border indicate a lack of potassium. To fertilize all the nutrients with cabbage, it is necessary to water it with a weak solution of manure with superphosphate.
