But even for amateur gardeners, lizianthus will surely also be liked. This article contains tips and recommendations for flower growers who plan to start growing lisianthus plants, photos of flowers. How to grow an Irish rose?

Lysianthus feels quite well in the garden, and in the room conditions this original plant is capable of decorating the house for many years. What do you need to know for those who decided to grow lisianthus (see the photo of flowers)?

Peculiarities of growing

  • A lisianthus flower can be perennial only if it is grown in room conditions. In the open ground, the eustoma lives for one year, perishing in autumn not only in the regions of the central strip of Russia, but also in the south of the country.
  • Irish rose requires a homogeneous, nutritious, loose soil with a small amount of sand. Optimum mixture of peat, sand and humus from the bark of the tree. The substrate can be mixed on its own or purchased ready-made weakly acidic soil for senpolia. In the latter case, gardeners are recommended to grow eustoma on peat tablets.
  • It is extremely important to use suitable fertilizing for seeds with a high content of potassium and nitrogen.
  • Irish rose is a light-loving plant. The flower grows best in a well-lit and ventilated room at a temperature of up to 18 degrees. Hot direct sunlight to the eustomomy is contraindicated.
  • It is not possible to apply top-dressing with a high content of phosphorus for the eustoma.

Methods of obtaining shoots

Unlike roses, it is practically impossible to get a new plant from the cuttings. In order to grow a flower lisianthus, in a store or through special sites you need to buy a ready-made shoot or plant seeds.

Ready eustoms seedlings enough to replant in a flower pot of a suitable size or land in the ground and provide care. The methods for growing a tender Irish rose for a garden or as a houseplant are somewhat different. First, let's look at how to get the lisianthus flower from the seeds, the cultivation of which is planned at home.

Growing from seeds at home

The first difficulty that can be encountered is the very small eustoma seeds (about 10,000 seeds are contained in one gram of material). There is a small trick for evenly sowing the lisianthus: small seeds are mixed with a small amount of well-sifted clean dry sand. Often, for the convenience of buyers, the seeds of lisianthus are sold in a special "capsule" of nutrient material and fertilizer, 6-10 pieces per pack. Such a seed material is highly germinating and does not need additional feeding.

Grow seeds of lisianthus begin in the second - third week of February. Ceramic pot with drain holes are filled as follows:

  • Layer of drainage (suitable for ordinary expanded clay).
  • Soil substrate. In this case, leave the distance from the edge of the pot to the ground for 1-2 cm to circulate the air.

Seeds without a shell are sown, not sprinkled on top of the soil, and sprinkle with warm water. Seeds in the shell are placed in the upper layer of the soil at a distance of 10-15 cm from each other. On top of the pot should be covered with a transparent film or glass, always leaving cracks for air. Condensation, accumulating on the surface of the coating, you need to clean.

For the entire period of germination, the temperature of the air in the room should be within 20-25 degrees. Watering the seeds is not required. The soil is occasionally sprayed with warm water to prevent the drying of the soil.

The first shoots of lisianthus appear in 10-15 days. After the appearance of the first shoots, the coating (glass or film) must be removed in the daytime so that the shoots gradually adapt in external conditions, and the soil is saturated with oxygen.

Picks

Young plants are dive at the 6th-8th week. By this time, the flower will grow stronger, several pairs of leaflets will appear. Shoots are dived in small individual containers with a peat substrate together with a clod of soil. If natural small seeds were used for sowing, it is better to dive the plants for 4-6 pieces. Seedlings, obtained from seeds in the "capsule", can be dived one at a time. Next, the pots are placed in a shaded cool room with an air temperature of not more than 18-20 degrees.

Care and watering

Young plants, grown to 10 cm in length, are transplanted into separate flower pots with a diameter of 10-15 cm. The roots of the lisianthus are too tender, in the future it is highly undesirable to transplant the flower. Therefore, you must immediately pick up the pots of the right size.

For the same reason, the lysianthus is transplanted exclusively by the transshipment method:

  • A flowerpot prepares the soil for planting. In the center is a pit, in depth corresponding to the height of the diving container.
  • Gently pressing on the container with the plant, the flower is taken out with the soil and placed in a flower pot. It is very important not to damage the root system.
  • The earth around the plant is a little tricky to fix to the eustoma in the pot.

After a transplant, the flowers of the eustoma need to create comfortable conditions for growth. Plants should be placed in a well-ventilated room with an air temperature of 20-25 degrees during the day, 15-18 degrees at night. To water a flower it is necessary time in some days, as soon as the soil dries up on 5 sm in depth. Watering is carried out carefully, with the help of an atomizer, without pouring the plant and trying not to spray water on the leaves.

Do not forget about the correct lighting. The best place for a lisianthus is a well-lit place near a window, protected from direct sunlight.

How to grow an Irish rose seedlings for a garden?

In summer, not only the room, but also the flower beds in the garden, can be decorated with a flowering lisianthus. How to grow an Irish rose in the open?

In order to grow the seedlings of lisianthus, as much as possible adapted to the street conditions, a small greenhouse is required. Step-by-step procedure for germination of shoots in a greenhouse is as follows:

  • Seed is sown in March - April.
  • The greenhouse is placed in a place with good lighting, not exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Under the cover is applied a layer of peat substrate about 2-3 cm, heated to 22-25 degrees. The seeds of lisianthus are planted on the surface of the soil. For moistening, the soil must sometimes be sprinkled with water, but most often the soil remains moist throughout the germination period due to the evaporation of moisture.
  • For the period of germination of seeds it is necessary to install additional illumination with a fluorescent lamp at least 10 hours a day.
  • As shoots increase, if weather conditions allow, plants begin to adapt to the external environment. To do this, the hothouse is ventilated through the day through a few holes-windows.
  • Crops should be periodically treated with a solution of phytosporin - this will avoid infection with a "black leg".
  • After 6 weeks, shoots are dived in the manner described above. You can store containers with young plants in a greenhouse.

When and how correctly to plant the seedlings in the open ground?

In open ground, lysianthus is not planted until the end of May, after the last frost. Soil for flowers should be prepared: make wood humus and mineral fertilizers, carefully loosen. For the transplant, you should choose a sunny place protected from the wind in the garden.

Planting from the container to the ground lisianthus is necessary along with the soil, without damaging the root system. For the first time, 10-15 days, for plants create a small shelter. After the flowers are finally adapted, the protective cover can be removed.

Caring for the lisianthus in the garden

Watering lisianthus is recommended, using a garden geek, trying not to fall on the leaves. The rule of watering is unchanged: do not overdry or pour. It is necessary to regularly feed mineral fertilizers with trace elements, approximately every three or four weeks. If necessary, you can weed and loosen, but be careful not to damage the roots of plants.

To prolong the life of the lisianthus, the garden plant in autumn can be transplanted into a flower pot and transferred to the house. If you create for the Irish rose the conditions described above, the eustoma will persist for several years.

Of course, apart from watering and comfortable conditions, lisianthus, like many other indoor plants, will need careful care. For the Irish rose, it is necessary to use top dressing at least once a month. Also, the plant should be treated in a timely manner, and treated against pests. But this hard work will not remain without a reward. A delicate and elegant flower, lisianthus, will please the owner for years, bringing comfort to the interior and decorating the house.
