In the presented material I would like to talk about the dendrological park of the city of Krasnodar. Let's consider why this place is considered unique? How does a natural park attract its visitors?

A short excursion into the history

Initially, the arboretum (Krasnodar) was nothing more than a forestry at the city Agrarian University. In 1959, a famous public figure and professor Ivan Sergeevich Kosenko expressed an idea about the transformation of this place into a natural park. After a while, the whole area was decided "to give to the people." Unattractive concrete fences were demolished and replaced with forged fences. Tiled paths were laid everywhere. Only green plantings remained unchanged, which in due time were brought here from all regions of the planet.

Today, the arboretum (Krasnodar) covers an area of about 46 hectares. There are more than 1200 species of plants, many of which are exotic and quite rare. About 80 species of plants that are in the park are protected by the Red Book. There are also flower greenhouses, where you can see about 300 varieties of subtropical and tropical crops.

How long does the arboretum work in Krasnodar? The park is open for visitors from 8 am to 6 pm. In summer, the work time of the arboretum is extended to 22 hours. The entrance here is free for all comers.

Why is this place popular?

Arboretum (Krasnodar) is one of the few parks in the city where you will never see stalls, rides, gambling machines. Visitors to this amazing place are only awaited by nature, cozy shady avenues, picturesque flower beds, benches for a relaxing holiday.

In summer, a large aviary is opened in the arboretum, where pheasants, peacocks, guinea fowl, and other representatives of birds live. On the trees in the park live numerous proteins. Most of them are tame and absolutely not afraid of people. You can see here a whole mass of separate species of forest and migratory birds.

Scientific and educational projects

The arboretum (Krasnodar) is not only numerous plants, fauna and picturesque species. The park also serves as a platform for the development of scientific and educational projects. Here there is an agrochemical laboratory, there are manufacturing sectors. The main direction of the work of local scientists is to study the specific features of acclimatization of individual representatives of the flora in the existing conditions. Workers of the park are also working on the development of projects on the greening of the city, the introduction of woody plants in the arrangement of local areas.

Staff of the arboretum organizes fascinating excursions for numerous visitors of the park. Such events are happily attended by city visitors, schoolchildren and students. On the territory of the park, exhibitions are organized, as well as seminars, during which experts consult on issues related to growing plants. Among other things, this place serves as a production and scientific base for personnel and students of the Kuban State Agrarian University.
