Chronic endocervicitis

Chronic endocervicitis is a constantly progressing disease, which is accompanied by inflammation of the mucous membrane of the uterine neck. In the absence of treatment, this disease leads to hypertrophy of the canal cells, and in some cases, to the development of metaplasia.

Chronic endocervicitis: causes of the disease

Inflammatory processes of the mucous membrane begin when penetrating into the female body of infection. These can be streptococci, gonococci, staphylococci, trichomonads. Less often, the causative agent is a viral infection or fungi.

The fact is that in the normal state of health in the cavity of the uterine neck there is a mucous plug, which protects the body from the penetration of pathogens. Infection occurs when the integrity and functionality of this protective barrier is violated for some reason. Most often this occurs during gynecological manipulations, for example, the establishment of a spiral, abortion, trauma during childbirth, microscopic rupture of the cervix, etc. In some cases, chronic endocervicitis is the result of improper intake of hormonal contraceptives, and also occurs in the presence of another chronic disease, for example, endometritis, erosion, colpitis.

Symptoms of endocervicitis

It is worth noting that chronic endocervicitis refers to those diseases that very quickly pass from acute to chronic form. Symptoms are not very pronounced. Sick women complain of uncharacteristic vaginal discharge. At the same time, they can be abundant or may be released in very small quantities. Distinctions such discharge by their consistence - they can be liquid, purulent or mucous.

Another sign of the disease is the pain that occurs in the lower abdomen and differs in intensity. In most cases, they are blunt and pulling - somehow resemble a pain syndrome during menstruation.

When gynecological examination, the doctor may notice that on the tissues of the uterine neck formed a reddish corolla, which indicates the presence of inflammatory processes.

Chronic endocervicitis: methods of diagnosis and treatment

The presence of inflammation can be judged after a gynecological examination, as well as the results of colposcopy. In addition, it is necessary not only to correctly diagnose, but also to identify the causative agent - this will make it possible to speed up the treatment process. For this purpose, vaginal smear tests are used where it is possible to detect the pathogen cells, as well as bacteriological culture, which will determine the sensitivity of the infection to antibiotics.

Preparations for treatment are selected, depending on the nature of the pathogen. For example, for the treatment of bacterial endocervicitis, antibiotics are needed, while the fungal infection is treated with antifungal agents. Drugs can be presented as tablets, or as vaginal suppositories, ointments, etc.

Along with treatment, it is necessary to protect women from the development of vaginal dysbacteriosis, since antibiotics destroy not only pathogenic microbes, but also a beneficial microflora. If necessary, a patient patient may be prescribed and taking vitamins to improve the immune defenses of the body.

Endocervicitis: treatment with folk remedies

Folk healers are also known for other methods of treating chronic cervical inflammation. For example, sea buckthorn oil is very effective. Such a medicine should be used in the form of tampons. Treatment lasts no more than two weeks. Sea-buckthorn oil is not toxic, but quickly heals affected areas of tissues. That is why it is often used along with conservative treatment. In addition, they can be treated even by pregnant women. But, in any case, do not use this method yourself - better consult first with a gynecologist.
