A few words from the story

Almost 70 years ago, the administration of the plant. Kulakova decided to open the camp "Caravel" for the children of her employees. The first tent city on the Karelian Isthmus took only 65 pioneers. A beautiful place was so pleasing to the children that it was already clear the following year: the places in the camp were sorely lacking. And "Caravel" began to grow. New buildings were raised, a club appeared. To rest began to bring not only factory. Children's health camp "Caravel" began to receive subordinate kindergartners. The only thing that was unchanged was that the leaders and educators in the camp were the best employees of the Military Plant named after A.Ya. Kulakov.

In perestroika, the construction of the camp stopped. The plant, which did not receive a penny for production, could no longer invest money in the development of children's recreation. But the camp was saved. Moreover, he continued his work.

In 1996, when the property of the camp was wanted to arrest for debts, it turned from a factory place for children's rest to a non-commercial organization DOSL "Caravel". The camp is preparing for its 70th birthday and still remains the favorite holiday destination for children of all ages.

"Caravel" today

Today the camp works in four shifts. Each has its own name: "Star Pilgrims", "School of Magic and Magic", "Third Economic", etc.

Children's camp "Caravel" became a base for students of the Herzen Pedagogical Institute. They specially select and prepare the best students for work in the camp. In their professionalism, fervor, creativity can not be doubted.
