Having become acquainted with several top-lists of teenage literature, it becomes clear that the most popular books are all kinds of "fantasy" works: from the familiar and cozy "Harry Potter" and the friendly family of loving vampires to utterly unthinkable elves, witches and still nobody knows whom. These "unknown-who" safely change the sex, experience strange feelings, which for some reason in the order of things, study in magical boarding schools; Good fights against evil, evil with good and so on. What does it do? Penetrating into another world - a book - we plunge even deeper - into the next layer - a fantasy, if I may say so, of a writer. Then there is a natural question: are we so sure of the author's crystal-pure intentions, his impeccable moral qualities, excellent knowledge of mythology, on which the genre of fantasy is based? Does the esteemed creator profess other than frankly invented worlds, characters who, even theoretically, can not have prototypes and false values, distorted categories and distorted attitude? Does he confuse the immature spiritual reader, who is ready with all his heart to accept his twilight fictional world? Fantasy in fantasy - and so on ad infinitum. Is it too hot for a fragile adolescent consciousness?

The next step in the category "The most interesting books for teenagers" is occupied by so-called modern novels. This is mainly parodies of low-quality literature "for adults." They have "everything" that a 13-16 year old teenager needs: money, sex, drugs, social inequality, and most importantly - the taste of "real" life, seasoned with pseudo-frankness and emotional breakdown. In general, if you admit honestly, really good modern literature, which would be popular among young people, very, very little.

Although, what is this concept - books for teenagers? Are those that will not be read by an adult or those that are too early to read to a child? In the first case: why are they then slipped to middle and older students, than they differ from students or graduate students?
