Books for teenagers: for and against

Tell me who your friend is, and I'll tell you who you are

Communication with literature is clearly not one-sided: a person deeply subjectively interprets the book, and the book, in turn, interprets the person, breaking it off, as if from a marble layer, pieces of doubt about everything that is and is around. As a result of this mutual interaction and friendship, an absolutely unique individuality emerges - a person who reads and thinks, homo sapiens sapiens with a plus.

It can be said in another way. The book, if you like, is a whole other world. Once truly penetrating there, a reasonable person is unlikely to deprive himself of the opportunity to travel further along his tortuous paths. But, if not cool, this world is fictional. All the most realistic pictures, when you hear even the rustle of grass and smell, all the most authentic characters are only reflections of real life. The most amazing thing is that the reflections magically influence the true world, correcting, and sometimes twisting it in any direction.

What happens in the modern literature for children? What books do teenagers read and why?

Having become acquainted with several top-lists of teenage literature, it becomes clear that the most popular books are all kinds of "fantasy" works: from the familiar and cozy "Harry Potter" and the friendly family of loving vampires to utterly unthinkable elves, witches and still nobody knows whom. These "unknown-who" safely change the sex, experience strange feelings, which for some reason in the order of things, study in magical boarding schools; Good fights against evil, evil with good and so on. What does it do? Penetrating into another world - a book - we plunge even deeper - into the next layer - a fantasy, if I may say so, of a writer. Then there is a natural question: are we so sure of the author's crystal-pure intentions, his impeccable moral qualities, excellent knowledge of mythology, on which the genre of fantasy is based? Does the esteemed creator profess other than frankly invented worlds, characters who, even theoretically, can not have prototypes and false values, distorted categories and distorted attitude? Does he confuse the immature spiritual reader, who is ready with all his heart to accept his twilight fictional world? Fantasy in fantasy - and so on ad infinitum. Is it too hot for a fragile adolescent consciousness?

The next step in the category "The most interesting books for teenagers" is occupied by so-called modern novels. This is mainly parodies of low-quality literature "for adults." They have "everything" that a 13-16 year old teenager needs: money, sex, drugs, social inequality, and most importantly - the taste of "real" life, seasoned with pseudo-frankness and emotional breakdown. In general, if you admit honestly, really good modern literature, which would be popular among young people, very, very little.

Although, what is this concept - books for teenagers? Are those that will not be read by an adult or those that are too early to read to a child? In the first case: why are they then slipped to middle and older students, than they differ from students or graduate students? But only because their perception is sharpened to the side-altar, their feelings are real, they can not be hidden or faked, and their experience is minimal. So it turns out that the teenager is quite able to choose his own library. And no recommendations from parents and school teachers can significantly affect his choice. It is necessary to start advising from the youngest age, gently replacing the typical American cartoons with kind and deep tales, and computer games and TV shows - with cheerful and heartfelt stories.

Good books for teenagers are those that are read with pleasure by an adult of any age.

Erich Maria Remarque's works can be an excellent choice. Nobody reads morals here, because most of the characters are children themselves, or they were recently children, or they were forever inside them. They experience deep feelings, try to understand the world around them, fight, fight, drink a lot, tragically die and remain forever in the reader's heart. After reading Remarque there is an unimaginably clear and bright feeling of mild sadness and purification. It is these books for teenagers that lay the notion of honesty, justice, true friendship, love and courage.

Short stories of Arkady Averchenko are permeated with sparkling humor and subtle irony. And let the action take place in the last century - the more interesting it is to draw parallels and with amazement recognize yourself, your friends and enemies in the charming heroes of this beautiful writer.

Excellent books for teenagers were created by Soviet writers Zoshchenko, Aleksin, Gaidar. It's not that they are committed to Soviet ideology. Much more is good, fair and honest. A plot of its sharpness is not inferior to modern detectives.

Perhaps the most pervasive, causing "creepy" is the work of the American writer Jerome David Salinger. His characters are so sensitive, so much in tune with a young man and so true that sometimes the reader becomes scared - the fictional world merges with the real world.

Children are sensitive people, they will immediately understand what's what

Slightly less influence from the media - and adolescents themselves will find a truly worthwhile literature, in which there is a small piece of life, once lovingly invested by the author.
