Bahai Gardens - the eighth wonder of the world

As a religion Bahaism arose in the XIX century. Today it is distributed in 180 countries and has about 5 million adherents. The Baha'is believe that all religions are equal, God alone and with people he speaks through his messengers. Believers call upon all people to live in peace and harmony. It so happened that the religious center of the Baha'is became one of the largest cities in Israel - Haifa. It is here that the remains of the founder of this religion are buried.

In 1953, the tomb of Baba was built, its top is in the form of a dome, the building has 18 windows, this is the number of disciples of the prophet. Certainly, the temple is very beautiful, but the main attraction attracting millions of tourists is the Bahai gardens. Haifa is a modern city of high technology, so it is very difficult to imagine that there may be such a miracle, more like an eastern fairy tale.

Simultaneously with the construction of the tomb, a small plot was also cultivated, on which the Baha'is planted a magnificent garden. In 1987, the Baha'i gardens in Haifa were decided to enlarge and plant the entire slope of Mount Carmel. The gardens consist of 19 large terraces. One of them is located directly near the tomb of the founder of religion, nine lead from the mausoleum to the foot of the mountain and nine from the temple to the top of the mountain.

Visitors are allowed to inspect the Bahai gardens, starting from the top terrace and going down. Raising up is allowed only to adherents of the Baha'i faith. Descent takes place along convenient stone steps, on both sides of which water flows, giving the garden some coolness and freshness. Water is used very sparingly, it flows down the grooves, then filtered and again fed to the mountain.

The architect who designed the Baha'i gardens did not set out to create the best park in the world, he just wanted to see this miracle, people thought about their lives, and he did it. The creation of the eighth wonder of the world was spent about 250 million dollars and took 10 years. All the money was collected from the voluntary donations of Baha'is throughout the world. Today, the gardens are cultivated by 90 believers, they believe that this work is the prayer of the Bahá'ís.

The symbol of the Baha'i faith is the nine-cornered star, in the form of which the tomb of the founder of the faith was built. The temple is in the center of the park and attracts attention with its architectural perfection. Near the mausoleum you can see the garden of cacti. In the northern part is the grave of another founder - Bahá'u'lláh, surrounded also by magnificent Bahai gardens.

This complex is very beautiful both during the day and at night. During the daytime, it amazes with its grandeur, beauty and uniqueness of compositions, and when it gets dark, millions of lanterns light up in the park, because of which the Bahai gardens look like a huge shining diamond. In 2008, UNESCO declared them a world heritage.

Visitors note that in these gardens there is a special peace and tranquility. When you admire the beauty of nature, amazing compositions of flowers, bushes and trees, all problems and worries are removed to the background, instead of them comes harmony and understanding of the need to do good in this world.
