Andrey Moiseyev: biography and sports career

Modern pentathlon at one time was designed as a training program for officers. Shooting, fencing, dressage, running, swimming - a real soldier should have mastered these disciplines perfectly. Times have changed, and pentathlon has become a spectacular view of the Olympic program. And his name in the history of this sport was able to record the Russian athlete Andrei Moiseev. He became the second pentathlete, who won two Olympic Games in a row.

Master of Sports in Swimming

Andrei Moiseyev was born in Rostov-on-Don in 1979. In sports he came at the age of 8 years. Originally the boy was engaged in swimming and the nobility did not know how to fence, shoot and ride a horse. He was training in the section of S. N. Kazakov.

However, soon in the biography of Andrei Moiseyev appears and sports pentathlon. Years went by, and Rostov by the age of 19 reached only the title of master of sports in swimming and did not stand out from a huge mass of athletes.

Much decided the start of the Olympic marathon pentathlon. Shooting was considered the weakest kind of Moiseev, but he managed to show a result close to a personal record, and not too far behind the main competitors.

Andrei Moiseyev did not fail the unloved shooting and settled down in fifth place after the first kind. Fencing was the crowning kind of Russian, and he shared the first place with the Chinese Jiang Zhenhua.

The third place before swimming, in which Moiseyev was an expert, gave him an excellent claim to win. However, here he spoke relatively unsuccessfully, having settled on the sixth line. Nevertheless, this was enough to get ahead in the overall standings before the final views.

The contest was a difficult test for all participants. The horses fell into a ruckus and constantly dropped their riders. Moiseyev became only the fifteenth, but rivals made even worse. The Russian confidently led the standings in front of the cross and went to the start confident of his victory. Confidence did not deceive Moiseyev, and he calmly finished with a large margin from his pursuers, again allowing himself to cross the ribbon with the Russian flag in his hands.
