Action (shrub): a charming decorative plant in your country house

Some of the most beautifully flowering bushes are actions - they are named after Johann van Dyatz, the former mayor of Amsterdam in the XIX century. The botanist Karl Tunberg, grateful to Dayz for funding botanical expeditions to East Asia, asked about this. It was from there that the first samples of plants were brought, which later began their victorious march through Europe.

Family of Hydrangea

Action (shrub) refers to the family hydrangea. And it has about 50 species in its genus. Their nearest "relatives" are Chubushnik and Hydrangea. Different species can be spreading or erect, deciduous or evergreen. Their height varies from half a meter to 4 meters. Wild-growing action - a shrub common enough: its area covers East Asia, India, Mexico. Derived ornamental forms and plant varieties, including with double flowers, attracted the attention of gardeners of Europe and America. Among its merits is not only decorative, but also the property of abundant and long bloom all spring and early summer. Neighborhood of white, pink and purple pyshnotsvetuschih shrubs can decorate any garden. In addition, the action - shrub quite unpretentious to the type of soil, they can be called gas and smoke resistant, almost unaffected by disease and damage to pests. With proper care, they can grow up to 25 years.

Reproduction

To reproduce the action, you can use any methods. Seeds (previously untreated) are pressed tightly to the ground and do not close up. After three weeks there are shoots. To store the seeds are placed in a cool room (in tightly closed jars). Use of sowing boxes will allow seeds and shoots not to dry out. The sensitivity of annual seedlings to a low temperature forces them to hide. In the spring, a pick is held. And after two years you can expect flowering seedlings. A good effect is provided by green cuttings. Cuttings are best harvested in the middle of summer. The air temperature of 15-30 ° C in combination with spraying gives almost 100% rooting.

Care

When placing plants, it should be remembered that the action - the bush is photophilous and drought-resistant. The plant requires a nutrient medium-rich humus-rich soil. Sour soil must be deoxidized with lime or wood ash. The best place to plant is open, but slightly shaded from the sun. Between the rows the optimal distance is about 2 meters, and the bushes are planted at a distance of 2.5 m from each other. Planting the action is possible by individual plants or groups. Improving flowering gives the introduction of liquid manure (for one bush - 5 - b). After pruning, mineral fertilizers are introduced. If there is a danger of early frosts, it is better to fertilize until the middle of July, so the bushes will stop growing and will be prepared for the winter period. During the spring digging, slaked lime (300 grams per square meter ), potassium salt (20 g), and manure (up to 4 kg) are added. If the summer was hot - watering is carried out 3 times a month (up to 20 liters under the bush), at moderate temperature - up to 2 times and up to 10 liters per bush.

Kinds

In general, such forms of action are cultivated:

  • Action is Amur or small-color. It is considered the most winter-hardy in the middle belt. It reaches a height of 1.7 m. White flowers are collected in dense inflorescences.
  • Action rough white. One of the most decorative forms. Its flower flowers are gathered in snow-white inflorescences of cylindrical shape. Each escape can be crowned with 10-11 such inflorescences. The weight of the flowers makes the shoots bend (and the plant looks "weeping").
  • Action rough terry. It is similar to the previous one, but differs only in the pink color of the outer petals. This species is thermophilic, in the middle zone it is often damaged by frosts (for winter it is necessary to cover the plant reliably).
