For a modern society it is usual to think stereotypically and to share gender roles. Getting acquainted and putting the first impression, many are mistaken, beginning to attribute to the interlocutor those qualities which are accepted, not penetrating, and whether he possesses them. Everything is based solely on the generally accepted view. Paying attention to nested stereotypes, you can control them so as not to allow to influence our life and perception of the world. One of the most common cliches is the idea of the typical nature of female and male behavior. The gender role is stereotypes, they are formed in the presence of social roles, which in turn are fundamental differences in the female and male psyche and people's activities. A great role in this is played by the culture of society.

Cultural stereotypes

Ordinary consciousness has in its structure an integral part - cultural stereotypes. In other words, using collective experience, an individual throughout his life receives a certain suggestion during training and communication, through which he later orientates himself in life and shapes his behavior in society. It is worth noting that gender roles in society in different cultures and social groups differ from each other, sometimes drastically. All these cliches arise on the basis of roles and social status. That is, through these stereotypes, the norm for women and men arises, exactly how they should behave in a particular society. And when we see this or that manifestation of the character of a person, we automatically compare it with our idea of the gender role of man.

Gender differences and children

It is believed that, depending on the sex of the child, adults perceive it in different ways. In other words, the same manifestations of the child's behavior will be perceived by adults differently, depending on whether the boy or girl is in front of them. And accordingly, the child is expected to have a certain behavior and reactions depending on his gender. Because of this, the child is told how it should be and is imposed by a false, stereotyped thinking. That is, the gender role is the stereotypical thinking instilled into the child during upbringing and socialization.

Gender Identity

This term expresses a person's social traits that characterize him from a certain point of view and show his belonging to a group of men or women. The most important here is how a person evaluates himself, and how his socialization takes place in a particular culture. Psychological, social, cultural and behavioral characteristics in aggregate represent the psychological sex. When interacting with other people and while watching them, a person adds his own idea of which group he is most suited to. And starting from his conclusions, he begins to choose his behavior and hobbies of the group that is closer to him. This is how gender social roles are distributed. In this case, the manifestation of stereotypes occurs at all stages of development. Even in younger preschool age children are already taught the perception of a clear separation of gender characteristics. Thus, communication between boys and girls is much less common than the joint pastime of children of the same sex, they also share interests, some should be addicted to one, others to others. Therefore, we often underestimate the role of gender stereotypes in the formation of the individual and worldview. When, in a more mature age, men and women seek to communicate, they do not understand each other, their interests diverge.

Styles of social behavior

When observing the diversity of communication between the representatives of different gender in the society, one can notice different relationships between people. In other words, depending on the purpose of communication between representatives of different genders, the behavior of both will be strikingly different. Before men attributed such mandatory qualities as activity, aggressiveness, efficiency, ability to solve problems. Women were supposed to be emotional, passive, the main thing that interested them was relationships, not affairs. Scientists have found out that there are no differences in the style of behavior between babies, and they arise with age. And the older the person, the brighter they are. The gender role of a woman or a man is built solely on the requirements of society, but at the same time a person evaluates himself, taking into account these needs, and if he does not stick together with the template, he starts to consider himself worse than others. That is, the first signs of such gender differences arise only when the child learns about the necessity of their presence. And by manifesting them, he simply performs the given program. But while boys can fully show signs of girls, and vice versa. In general, it was proved that socialization is the main factor that influences gender differences.

Subordination of people to gender norms

According to the researches of Sean Bern, there are three types of subordination of a person to social norms. The first is compliance, it manifests itself as a person's approval of social norms unacceptable for him, and adjustment for them to avoid conviction, punishment and in the hope of approving his behavior by the society. Next comes the approval, that is, the person's complete agreement with the presented gender norms. The third type is identification, the person behaves in full accordance with the role model of behavior in society presented to him.

Deviation from stereotypes

Modern society does not at all resemble a stereotyped device. Therefore, the modern gender role is a vague concept. Many women find their destiny in deliberately male occupations, that is, in business, science and so on. And some men are farming, are engaged in children, creativity and other occupations, by definition female. In the society it is accepted that men and women differ not only in their character, but also in psychology. If the stereotypical perception is violated, then the person is condemned and misunderstood by the relatives, which undoubtedly adversely affects the development of the personality.

Negative effect of stereotypes

Many modern psychologists believe that emphasizing gender differences is incorrect. A gender role is, first of all, the imposition of the needs of society without taking into account the individual's desires and goals. In other words, the differences between a woman and a man are exaggerated, in a view of the situation on the part of society is not subjective. So, considering the same act, the woman and the man will react differently. And this is incorrect, since stereotypical representations do not correspond to the actual development of the personality, its character and behavior. In addition, they affect the development of certain qualities, and distinguishing the gender roles of men and women, one character trait develops more, and the other is inhibited and suppressed. For example, if the boy is forced to hide his emotions, as he grows older, he may forget to perceive them, and begin to deny their presence in other people, not understanding their manifestations. It is worthwhile to understand that each person is individual, regardless of his gender. This will normalize the psychological state, more productive work and be harmonious. Unfortunately, despite the flexibility of modern stereotypes, many people still struggle within themselves, not only with public stamps, but also with their own perceptions.
