A dream is a "passive" dream

There are situations when a person ceases to be interested in the world around him, for him the brightness of the paint is lost. To make up for the emptiness that arises in the sensations in this state, one's own imagination unfolds. In such a case, a dream is a special process that takes place in a waking state (unlike a dream). A person imagines the resolution of any life situation in the form of a result, which looks in his imagination as a joyful, long-awaited and tempting finale. In it one can clearly trace the connection with the most secret needs and unrealizable desires.

When there is a dream, can this be regarded as a pathology?

Many life situations require the maximum concentration of a person - solving problems and finding a way out of difficult moments is associated with an increased psychoemotional load. However, the reserve of vitality is different for all, and some may not be able to cope with the difficult stages of life. With overexertion of memory and perception, fantasy, as a rule, does not participate in the work of these functions. Dreaming is a process independent, autonomous. Sometimes it helps to cope with stress, gives hope. Dreaming in psychology is not a pathological process. Unlike hallucinations, a person can always accurately track the reality, not confusing it with illusory fabrications.

Factors that provoke a dream

  • Moments of appeasement, benign state of mind.
  • Critical situations when finding a way out is not possible.
  • Tiring work (both physical and mental).
  • The impact of certain stimuli - music, fragrances, etc.

If there is another, more powerful stimulus (noise, the presence of an outsider), the dreams easily dissipate.

Characteristics of dreams

  • A dream is selfishly speculated about the future. Egocentrism is the most characteristic feature of this kind of dream.
  • For dreams there is no framework - the more unattainable our desires, the more space for imagination. All that we would like to achieve in real life in the world of illusions is available. The most frequent object of dreams is the most intimate, sometimes unrealizable in the present, desires.

  • Despite the proximity of two concepts - dreams and dreams, they have a slight difference. The first one is quite realistic, its achievement, although it is difficult, but still more likely. Her role is incredibly great, especially in childhood and adolescence: being a strong emotional impetus, the dream is able to become an important incentive to achieve the goal. Dreams can be and are not connected with reality, fully embodying the imagination of a person in consciousness. Many people give a comparative characteristic with dreams - this is how the expression "to dream in reality" appeared.
