Zubrovka is vodka, tested by time

What is Zubrovka? Is it Belarusian or Polish vodka? The Poles call it Zhubrovka. Belarusians drink Zubroiku. In English, the bars ask Bison Grass Vodka. This is a bitter tincture in 40 degrees of the fortress. To date, its production is open in Belarus and Poland.

The drink is infused with a scallop. This grass grows in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha and serves as a feed for bison, therefore the vodka has such, at first sight, strange name. The color of Bison varies from amber to light yellow.

History

Zubrovka is vodka with a real legend, a drink with centuries of history and an army of admirers all over the CIS and its features. "Zubrovka" is a magical memory, probably for any inhabitant of the post-Soviet space. During the Soviet Union, she did not leave the festive tables of all walks of life: from ordinary workers to general secretaries. Even Brezhnev read this brand and paid due attention to its use.

History Zubrovka begins in the XVI century, when it began to be produced in the Commonwealth. Already by the 18th century, the drink took root at the feasts of both noble people and peasant families.

In 1926 the mass production of the drink began. On the site of modern Brest in Belarus, the Polish company began to produce Zubrovka. Vodka and its way of production was distributed throughout all civilized countries.

Even earlier, in 1884, the well-known company N.Shustov and Sons in the competitive struggle with the wine production began the production of the famous Shustov tinctures: Spotykach, Erofeyich, Zapekanka, Mandarinovaya, Ryabina on brandy, "Caucasian mountain herbalist", "Riga balsam". Among them was the vodka Zubrovka, whose producer was enriched at her recipe.

Grass-cutting

The plain grass of this herb has become famous all over the world thanks to the aromatization of Zubrovka, but this is not the whole area of their application. Fresh special smell of grass gives a variety of possibilities in canning and confectionery production. As an aromatizer in some spices, to enhance the flavor and taste, the essence of this herb fits well. Perfectly a combination of fish and spices, so it is worth using her extract for marinating and pickling herring, as well as making canned fish. Spicy smell of teeth - an ideal perfume for tobacco. Housewives rarely use grass as spice, although it is easy to find and assemble it.

It has been used since ancient times instead of incense in aromatic smoking, so it is often called "sacred grass".

A small amount of teeth improves appetite, so some grass was given to pets, especially cows to increase milk yield. Completely to feed them with a tooth-brush did not give a high content of poisonous coumarin in its composition.

The use of grass was found even in town planning, because its developed root system strengthened the slopes of ravines and embankments.

Traditional medicine has not found application of a dentition. But folk healers treated grass with loss of appetite, increased lactation in young mothers, removed pain and spasms in the intestines, improved the digestive system. It was also used in lung diseases as an anti-inflammatory drug. Grass teeth can be used for tuberculosis due to its antiseptic properties.

The spice contains a substance called "kumarin glycoside". Thanks to him, vodka with its extract is extracted from the mass of alcoholic drinks with a unique aroma and characteristic taste. It increases appetite and helps the food to be digested better. That's why Zubrovka is an ideal addition to the bird, game, cold meat, snacks.

Coumarin

Because of the toxic compound in the grass - coumarin, which is banned in America - the importation into the States of Zubrovka was stopped in 1978.

The traditional method of making this alcoholic beverage involves 1-2 kg of grass per thousand liters of raw materials. This means that one liter of vodka contains 12 mg of coumarin. In 1999, the distilleries of Poland recreated the export of the renewed version of the drink, especially for its American admirers. The new "American" Zubrovka is vodka without coumarin, containing only artificial dyes and flavors, but the symbolic sheaf still remains.
