Frederick Burden. Childhood, tricks, family, the movie of the famous impostor

Surely many people have heard this name - Frederick Burden. This French serial impostor was interested in the police for a long time. Frederic even got a nickname in the wide circles - "Chameleon".

Birth and childhood

Burden was born on June 13 in 1974 in Nantes (department of O-de-Seine). According to media reports, the boy is the illegitimate son of Gislen Burden. As it turned out, the woman initially wanted to have an abortion at the request of her father and grandfather Frederik, but eventually refused and gave birth. Gislen became a mother at the age of 18. In an interview with one of the local channels, the mother reported that Frédéric's father was an immigrant from Algeria. Learning that the accidental connection brought him a child, he immediately disappeared, leaving Gislen to the mercy of fate with the baby. The police also found out that the woman was very fond of drinking and walking at night.

Also Gislen told the press that at the age of 5 she gave her son to raise her grandfather and grandmother to France. At the age of 12, the boy was in an orphanage.

The debut reincarnations

Frederick Bourden is known for pretending to be other personalities. According to him, he managed to feel himself in the role of 500 people he did not know. As it turned out later, three of them were missing teenagers.

Even in his early childhood, the boy called the police, introduced himself as someone else's name, or even lied that he did not remember his name. As Frederick Burden admitted later, he often shouted into the phone and asked for help. The guy claimed that his parents beat him and he fled the house.

In general, there were lots of similar stories. He has been doing this all over Europe for a long time. The press and the police were perplexed: why did a 30-year-old man pretend to be an orphan, after all, he had no psychic abnormalities, and he did not really need money.

It should be noted that Frederic lived in more than 15 countries and knew 5 languages in perfection.

Nicholas Barclay

In 1997, when the young man turned 23, he said that his real name was Nicholas Barclay. The boy disappeared on June 13, 1994 from San Antonio , Texas. The real Nicholas was 13 years old when he went to play basketball with friends. Since then, no one heard anything about the boy.

To conduct his scam, Frederick Burden went to the US to the parents of the missing Nicholas. And although the missing guy had brown eyes, Chameleon managed to convince his family that it was their miraculously found son. Family Frederick said that he had escaped from those who are involved in child prostitution. He spent more than five months with his family before his fraud was revealed.

In 1997, one of the local detectives led the guy to clean water. The minister of law worked together with the film crew, which was engaged in filming a film about the Barclay family. Then he suspected something was amiss.

Disclosure of fraud

In 1998, FBI agents were authorized to take fingerprints and a DNA sample from Nicholas. Later it turned out that the guy was Frederick Burden (Chameleon). In the same year, the deceiver confessed to the court that he had perjured and forged a passport. For this act, he received five years in prison.

Next scam

In 2003, Burden moved to Grenoble. There he found new victims for his scams. This time, he pretended to be Leo Bally - a 14-year-old boy, who since 1996 is considered missing. Parents did not believe the words and immediately sent "false" to take tests. And again, deceit and prison.

Further Frederick Burden, whose biography is described in our article, introduced himself as Ruben Sanchez Espinosa, whose mother was killed in a bomb attack in Madrid. After such deception, the police decided to deport the restless impostor to France.

In 2005, Burden posed as Francisco Fernandes - a 15-year-old orphan. For a whole month Chameleon lived in the orphanage of Jean Monnet in Po (France). He told then that his parents were killed in a car accident. Frederic dressed like a teenager, and walked like a teenager. His bald head he covered with a baseball cap and used a depilatory cream so that no one noticed his stubble.

And again a failure: one of the teachers looked at the broadcast about his "exploits" and handed the liar to the police. Later, Burden received four months in prison. In court, Frederick admitted that in this way he was seeking attention and love, which he was deprived of as a child. Orphan Burden pretended many more times.

Personal life

August 8, 2007 Frederick Burden and his wife (civil) signed. The man took care of the girl for more than a year. At the moment, the couple have three children. As Frederick told one of the newspapers, he no longer wants to pretend to be anyone. Now his family has enough love and attention.

"Impostor". The film with Burden

In 2010, on the screens came out a picture called "Impostor". The director and screenwriter of the tape was Jean-Paul Salom. The plot was based on real events. "Pretender" (the film) narrated about Burden, who pretended to be Nicholas Barclay. Frederic played a young talented actor Mark-Andre Gronden. In 2012, there was a documentary on the same topic.

Character

When Burden met with one of the journalists for the interview, he fully described the life of his interlocutor. The journalist was very surprised when Frederick named his name, residence, exact date of birth and the name of his wife. When asked why he needed it, Burden replied: "I need to know who I'm communicating with."

It is worth mentioning that during the interview Chameleon said this phrase: "When fighting with monsters, be careful that you do not become one of them."

We hope that Burden will never return to his past life.
