Zoshchenko, "The Aristocrat": a short summary and analysis of the story

In his stories, M. Zoshchenko does not just play up comic situations, which he skillfully notices in life, but exaggerates them to the limit. The story "Aristocrat" Zoshchenko turned into a little tragicomedy. But we are talking about a natural trip for any person to the theater.

Comments of the narrator

Speech in the story is on behalf of a plumber named Grigory Ivanovich, who sees aristocracy in the presence of a hat, a pug sitting on his hands, gold teeth in his mouth and fashionable stockings. As in the song about Marusya, who walked about the sea sand. For a full set of like a plumber lady does not have enough waist in the corset. It was these, if I may say so, the ladies liked Grigory Ivanovich, but after closer acquaintance with them, he changed his mind.

Trying to get closer

At first glance, Grigory Ivanovich was carried away by a lady who had a golden tooth glistening in her mouth. He did not know how to take care of and acted directly - went to her apartment and asked if running water works - he had more than enough imagination. But the main comic story is the presence of primitive lexicon, which is used by the narrator. Out loud, he calls the lady not by name and patronymic, but by a citizen, and thinks to himself that she is "Frya." That is, on his part there is some disregard. This plumber wants to show that, they say, he does not care about the aristocratism of the citizen, because now everyone is equal.

Walking

Then the events developed as follows: about a month later, the "lovers" walked along the streets together. At the same time Grigory Ivanovich felt very uncomfortable. He did not know what to talk with a fellow traveler. In addition, pacing, leading the lady by the arm, he was uncomfortable with friends.

The plumber felt himself caught by a pike. Thus continues the comic action of Zoshchenko. "Aristocrat" (a short summary of the story is presented in the article) will soon show its worth both to the reader and the narrator in all its glory.

Going to the theater

Further, the so-called aristocrat herself volunteered to the theater. It must be assumed that she was not too interested in the play, but rather in the interlude, in which the tragicomic event described will occur. But let's not run ahead. So, the heroes went to the theater, since two tickets were accidentally brought to Grigory Ivanovich, but only in different places. One - in the stalls, where the gallant knight planted "aristocrat", and the second place was in the gallery. There went our plumber and, of course, quickly bored, went into the foyer. There, in the interval, he met his companion, heading straight for the buffet. Grigory Ivanovich proposed in a broad gesture that the lady should eat one cake. So witty and comically ridicules the philistine in the theater Zoshchenko. "Aristocrat" (a brief summary of the same story we continue to present) will behave differently than our hero expected from her.

In the buffet

His heart froze at Grigory Ivanovich, when he saw the depraved, in his opinion, the gait of the lady and her incredible gluttony. She grabbed and ate the cake, then another, then, without stopping, started on the third. But Grigory Ivanovich was, to put it mildly, not with money. And when the "aristocrat" seized the fourth, the gentleman could not stand it and cried out for the "wicked woman" to put the confectionery product back.

With sad irony, which is almost not noticeable behind the comic position, Zoshchenko's narrative continues. "Aristocrat" (the summary of the story comes to an end) was confused and frightened. And the mean barman demanded money for four cakes, since the last, uneaten, was crushed and bitten. Then the audience gathered, which began to discuss what happened and argue about whether the cake is bitten or not. As a result, people intervened better at intermission than at a performance in the theater. When Grigory Ivanovich scraped away all the small things, he barely had enough money to pay four cakes. Then he proudly invited the "aristocrat" to finish the last delicacy, but she was embarrassed and refused. And then unexpectedly on the stage displays a new, quick and quick, character Zoshchenko. "Aristocrat" (a short story of the story, we continue to state in this article) - a story in which the author finally brought the situation to an anecdotal level, introducing into the narrative a flamboyant brisk uncle who expressed a desire to overdo the cake. At the same time, the "aristocrat" silently looked at how a person ate a snack instantly. It's for Grigory Ivanovich's money!

The final

And again our heroes went to inspect the opera, as they obviously did not know how to listen. And each during the second act thought out what to say to each other. They returned in grave silence, and at the house the lady in a bourgeois tone uttered that without money, there is nothing to go to the theater. But Grigory Ivanovich did not remain silent, but explained that there was no happiness in money. Since then, he has not liked "aristocrats". On this note, the story "Aristocrat" Zoshchenko ends. The retelling, unfortunately, does not convey the vocabulary used by the characters, namely, it most characterizes the characters.

Zoshchenko, "The Aristocrat": Analysis

It's ridiculous and sad to read this story, which narrates about the 20-30s of the last century, when a social layer emerged to the surface, which itself represented the cultural and thinking. The protagonist is pathetic and ridiculous in his ridiculous attempts to take care of a woman. A man is able to talk extremely monosyllabically and only about a water pipe, in which he is well versed. Even in the theater, he asks the companion not about whether she liked the performance (he simply does not think of this issue), but whether the water pipe works here. But the "aristocrat" is no better than Grigory Ivanovich. In the theater, which in the story symbolizes culture, the lady also does not care about what is happening on stage. All her interest was focused on the buffet, in which she did not find it necessary to temper her appetites and to foresee that the chevalier might not have enough money. Lack of culture, dense ignorance and bad manners of both heroes are shown as in the palm of your hand.

A sad irony appears in the lines of the story. Was Mikhail Zoshchenko dreaming of such a dream ? "Aristocrat" is a bright mockery of a disgusting, insolent, absurd philistinism, distinguished by a mass of unreasonable claims and great conceit.
