Why do I need an ovulation test, instructions for use

Currently, more and more couples are planning a child. However, many often complain that the desired pregnancy does not occur, despite the fact that both partners are healthy. One of the reasons for this may be the choice of the wrong day for conception.

There is only a few days in the cycle, when the female body is capable of the birth of a new life, these are the days of ovulation. You can define them in several ways. If the cycle is constant, then it will not be difficult to calculate them. It is necessary to count the number of days in the cycle (the first day is the beginning of menstruation), and then determine the middle of the cycle, this will be the most favorable days. Another method can be to measure basal temperature. But not always it is convenient, besides it is a rather unreliable way.

However, the most accurate way for this procedure will be an ovulation test, the instruction of which is fairly simple. In pharmacies and specialized stores, you can find a large number of such tests of various manufacturers. Virtually all of them can be used at home, but differ, mostly, in price and quality.

The principle of the majority of tests for ovulation is the same. Most often, they are aimed at determining the amount of luteinizing hormone in a woman's urine. If it is higher than normal, it is a signal to ovulation, which occurs in a day. Before you do the test for ovulation, you need to choose the most convenient place. Some women prefer home conditions, others prefer to spend it in a polyclinic, under the guidance of a doctor.

If nevertheless there was a necessity to independently carry out the test for ovulation, the instruction is usually attached by the manufacturer. The simplest and cheapest are test strips. They are strips of special paper with a reagent applied on them, which will show the result. This type of test is not entirely accurate and requires great accuracy in the application. Most often on the strip there is a mark, neither lower nor higher, which should not be omitted, otherwise the procedure will be performed incorrectly, and consequently, the results can not be trusted.

For more accurate results, you can use tablet tests or jet tests, which are much more reliable and convenient to use, but much higher in price. If the test for ovulation is negative, this may mean that the egg does not ripen. In such cases, a doctor's consultation is required, especially if this trend is observed for several months.

Usually, the test set includes several strips. This suggests that the testing should be done several days in a row, preferably at the same time, while the time of day does not matter much. However, it is better not to use the morning urine, since LH begins to excrete in the body in the morning, and in the urine appears a little later, during the day. It is better to start testing from the 10-11 day of the cycle.

It should be noted that the main advantage of home ovulation tests is ease of handling and relative reliability, since they can predict the onset of the process with an accuracy of up to two days. However, they have their own shortcomings.

Firstly, it should be said that the test for ovulation, the instruction to which fairly accurately describes the necessary actions for proper application, can also show a false positive result. This suggests that the body can have any ovulatory disorders. In such cases, it is better to do additional ultrasound and, based on its results, start testing. Secondly, if there is an error in the application, the results may be unreliable.

Thus, the test for ovulation, the instruction to which was strictly observed, will help a woman in determining the days most favorable for conception.
