First Screening for Pregnancy

The first screening for pregnancy is a very important and memorable event for any mom. That's when the doctor for the first time says that your baby is already clearly visible handles, legs, face. Of course, this is a very touching moment, and it's incredibly cool if a pregnant girl next door is a future dad, or just a close friend. He will share the joy with her, the emotions the girl feels. In general, for medical purposes, the first screening for pregnancy is conducted in order to notice any deviations in the development of the child at the earliest possible time. At the same time, factors such as the presence of harmful habits in the pregnant woman, her weight, age, and others should be taken into account. This examination is usually carried out at a period of eleven to fourteen weeks. It consists of a whole complex of activities, which include the conduct of ultrasound and a blood test, which is taken from the vein.

Biochemical screening during pregnancy can reveal the risk of an alleged fetal pathology, primarily Down's syndrome, Edwards syndrome , an incorrectly developed neural tube, or other disorders of the baby's organs. With the help of modern medicines, a doctor can immediately see whether the child has everything on the spot: pens, legs, and head. The doctor measures certain parameters, analyzes the work of the baby's heart, its blood flow. The specialist should make sure that the length of the body corresponds to the period of pregnancy on which the future mother is.

One of the most important hormones in a woman's body during pregnancy is hCG. By the amount of its content, it is possible to determine whether the fetus is developing properly: a lower content of this hormone indicates a lack of development of the placenta, and an excess of chromosomal abnormalities. However, increased content can also indicate that pregnancy is prolific. Further, depending on what deviations are observed in the baby, the doctor prescribes medicines that can change the course of pregnancy.

The first screening for pregnancy is not mandatory for all girls. Most often there are those women who have at least a minimum risk of fetal malformation, women over the age of thirty-five, or those who have predispositions to the occurrence of pathologies. Many future mothers do not know how pregnancy screening is done. This is a simple procedure, which is a diagnosis using ultrasound. Ordinary ultrasound examination at 4-5 weeks can show whether the heart beats the baby's heart as it moves.

The first screening for pregnancy is absolutely harmless, and the information that the procedure can harm a child is just a rumor. Unfortunately, in the detection of pathologies even in the early stages of pregnancy, it is often impossible to heal it. This is due to the fact that the failure is caused by genetic disorders. In such a sad case, parents face a problem, whether to leave the child, or to interrupt pregnancy. What to do in this situation, the right to decide only the mother of the baby. She can listen to the opinion and advice of specialists, find out the probability of a healthy child, but the final decision is made only by the mother. It is important to know and remember that the abnormalities found during screening are not a verdict, but simply a necessity to continue a more thorough study. If there are controversial results, you can go through a survey of different specialists, find out their opinion about the deviation, study the results of different analyzes. Remember that an additional study of the child can affect the entire subsequent life of the baby.
