Where is the Glory square in Khabarovsk

The Glory Square in Khabarovsk is the place where citizens and guests of this eastern city gather.

History of creation

The Russian people proudly speak of defenders of the country who, at the cost of their lives, defeated the fascists. Memorials dedicated to Soviet soldiers-defenders have been created all over the country. Khabarovsk did not stay aside. In honor of the thirty-year victory over Germany, the Glory Square was built here. It was located in the heart of the city. The Square of Glory rises on a hill that approaches the shores of the broad and mighty Cupid. Adjoining to it is Lenin Street, which is central to Khabarovsk.

The Square of Glory is thought out so that in its center there is a thirty-meter obelisk consisting of three vertical ferro-concrete steels. They symbolize three decades of peaceful life, recalling that fascist Germany was defeated by Soviet troops. The upper part of the created obelisk is decorated with a metal plate. It symbolizes the fluttering banner, which is crowned with a five-pointed star. It recalls the military feat of civilians who in the rear exerted superhuman efforts to help fighters fighting with the enemy in the fields of the Great Patriotic War. On the star there is a hammer and a sickle, they are symbols of labor feat.

The Glory Square is a real place of pride of the townspeople. In the lower part of the stele there is a laurel branch. On it are carved in gold letters the names of 58 residents of the Khabarovsk Territory, who became heroes of the Soviet Union. On the other side of the stelae are the names of six gentlemen of the Order of Glory, as well as the names of the 61 Hero of Socialist Labor.

Conclusion

What else is famous for the Glory Square? Khabarovsk is proud of the fact that triangular decorative plates are chosen for coating, which symbolizes life in difficult war years. The creation of the monument was worked by the best monumental artists, the authors of the stele were A. Karikh, N. Vdovkin.
