When will the child begin to speak and how can he help him to master speech?

Asking about when a child begins to speak, it should be understood that this is not spontaneous. The first conscious words and suggestions are preceded immediately by several so-called preparatory stages.

Stages of speech development

Already from the very first days after birth, crumbs show initial voice reactions, namely, crying and screaming. Of course, they are still very far from the usual speech, but these are important processes that allow us to develop respiratory, articulatory and voice apparatuses. Already after 2 weeks the baby begins to react to the voices of the speakers, listen when talking to him. And from 2-3 months, the children have a characteristic walking (sounds like "aga", "agu", "gkh" and others). Up to six months, kids continue to "play" with sounds this way, and by the 7-8 month age they have the ability to imitate the sounds that adults ("ma-ma-ma", "tia-chia-cha", "na And so on). This means that the moment when the child begins to speak, is not far off.

What does it depend on when the child speaks?

It should be understood that all children develop individually, and there is simply no answer to the question of when a child will start to speak. However, it is noticed that sensible kids who prefer quiet games surrounded by toys, begin to speak a little earlier. And those who are eager to learn the whole world around themselves, touch everything and taste, just do not have time to learn yet and talk - their lives are already full of vivid impressions.

On average, girls used to say the first words, and boys this moment comes later for several weeks. However, here everything, again, is relative.

When the child begins to speak, it also depends on the attitude towards him in the family. If you constantly indulge all his desires, think for him a few steps forward, there will simply be no incentive to talk - he will already get everything he wants. The tense relations between relatives and the oppressive situation in the house also negatively affect the development of speech, the baby becomes unoccupied and withdrawn.

On average, the basic vocabulary should be formed in the baby by 15-18 months. But if at the age of 2-3 years the kid babbles and hardly utters only a few words, it is better to contact the doctors who will help to identify the cause of such a delay. Maybe he has a short bridle of the tongue, which prevents him from speaking, or a weak ear.

How to help a child start talking?

Of course, until the moment when the child begins to speak with sentences, it is still far away. But you can bring this time closer if you help the child learn oral speech. What do I need to do?

  1. Comment on your actions ("Mama feeds Anya with kashka", "Mama ishes Olechka pens" and so on), show the baby the surrounding objects and call them. Soon, after hearing a familiar word, the child can show on the subject. It is extremely useful for the crumb to become aware of speech.
  2. Ask the child to do something, for example, to bring a toy already familiar to him by name or to approach one of the parents.
  3. Read the fairy tale kid, sing children's songs, show different pictures and explain how the objects depicted on them are called.
  4. Do not allow sucking! You have to pronounce the words clearly and clearly, otherwise the kid will not understand how correctly they are pronounced.
  5. Try to talk with simple sentences - complex kids are most often ignored.
  6. If possible, for a while, it is necessary to limit the communication of crumbs to relatives and friends who have speech defects - stutter, lisp, cart, etc.

Stay patience - and very soon in the life of your family will come that wonderful moment when the child begins to speak. Komarovsky, as well as many other well-deserved pediatricians of our country, do not tire of repeating that the main thing is to let the baby develop and not put pressure on him. Even if the crumb does not speak at a time when all peers are already learning to put words into whole phrases, most likely, at this time, he simply develops other spheres of thinking and activity, and therefore there is no cause for concern!
