What you need to know when making a wooden floor over wooden beams

When building a wooden building, it is logical to use beams of the same material. To the metal or ferro-concrete in this case it is not necessary to resort. Therefore, builders use the wooden flooring on wooden beams. But in this case, you need to know exactly all the rules and norms for using this method.

What is such a design? It consists of wooden beams. From the bottom and from above they are covered with a layer of special filing (these can be boards, fiberboard, plywood, particle board, etc.), between which there is heat and sound insulation.

In general, the device of wooden floors consists of the floor itself, the beams of the carriers, the ceiling layer and the filling between the blocks. Different insulation is realized with the help of a special flooring, it is also called "rolling away". The beams themselves are mainly made of bars with a rectangular cross-section. When designing the rolls, they tend to lean towards the wooden shields. It is allowed to replace elements from this material with gypsum or ribbed blocks in order to save. Such components have more weight than wood itself, but they are not exposed to the combustion and decay process, which is a big plus.

With a similar construction, it is necessary to perform a calculation of the wooden floor. In building codes and norms, the value of the temporary load per 1 square meter should be 150 kg. Here it is meant that, in addition to the basic weight, you can add a temporary one, which is 150 kg. The constant load consists of the mass of the floor itself and the partitions between the rooms. All the rest (furniture, human mass, various devices) refers to the unstable.

Wooden flooring on wooden beams, which acts as the base of the floor, should contain the optimal value of the load. If we draw an analogy with other materials, then in ordinary houses reinforced concrete structures with a normal carrier size of 400-800 kg per square meter are used. For a building made of wood, such an amount is unlikely to be needed, because in real life the flooring has to withstand a maximum of 400 kg per sq.m. However, the owner of a future building can choose another value that is appropriate to him, depending on the needs. Overlapping is recommended, taking into account any possible loads, with an additional margin of safety, but not more than 40 percent.

Also, when designing, it is important to consider such a notion as deflection. In accordance with the building rules, a wooden floor over wooden beams should have such an index, not exceeding 1/250 of the entire length of the element. It should also be pointed out that deciduous species are forbidden to use, as they almost do not bend. Therefore, coniferous trees are used for such purposes.

With the correct design and normal operation of the wooden flooring on wooden beams, which can also be called natural, can long and reliably serve the occupants of the building.
