What is actually depicted on the logos of famous film studios?

Most of the characters of Hollywood studios are well known to us from childhood. However, hardly any of us thought about what they meant. In this article we will tell you how some of the most recognizable Hollywood logos were created.

Studio DreamWorks: Boy-Fisherman on the Moon

Initially, this logo should have been in the form of a person sitting on the moon with a fishing rod. It was created by the artist Robert Hunt, who painted another version with a child. It was this option that was approved as the company logo. Interesting is the fact that Hunt painted a boy who looked like his son, William, who later became a rather successful composer.

Columbia Pictures: a woman with a burning torch

The logo in the form of a woman with a torch first appeared in 1924. How strange it sounds, but there was no concrete model with which this image was drawn, it was combined from several photographs of different women. The latest version of the logo, which appeared in 1992, depicts an ordinary American housewife Jenny, whose facial features have been slightly modified for a more attractive picture.

Goldwyn Mayer: the roaring lion

The idea of such a symbolism of the famous American film studio appeared in its editor, Howard Dietz in 1924, with an ulterior motive. The fact is that when Dietz studied at Columbia University, the local sports team was called "Lions".

For its long history, the studio changed five lions. Now every film starts with the horrific growl of the company's main star, Leo, whose photograph can be seen on the main image.

Paramount Pictures: a mountain with a halo of stars

By order of the film company Paramount Pictures, artist William Hodkinson painted a mountain that strongly resembles the summit of Ben Lomond. It is located in Utah, where the creator of the logo grew.

In the first version of the picture, the mountain was surrounded by 24 stars - the number of actors collaborating with the film studio. However, in the updated version of the logo for no apparent reason, only 22 stars remained.

Warner Bros.: a shield with the initials of the founders

A fairly simple and easily explicable logo conceals a very large lie behind itself. The fact is that the name Warner was not real for the founders of the company. Their parents at one time immigrated to the United States of America from Russia, and their real name was Vonskolaser.

Walt Disney: fairytale castle

The logo of the most famous animation studio on the planet from the very beginning portrayed a fairytale castle. The German Neuschwanstein Castle was taken as the basis for the first version, but in 2006 it was replaced by the Cinderella Castle, built at the Paris Disneyland.

Pixar Studio: Animated Lighting Fixture

A fairly creative logo of the company appeared at the beginning of the first full-length animated film. Viewers liked the "live" lamp from the short 1986 animated film, especially the moment when he replaced the "i" in the studio name.

Castle Rock Entertainment: a horror lighthouse

This film studio, which has long been taken over by Warner Bros, became known throughout the world thanks to the adaptation of the novels of the legendary master of horrors Stephen King.

The studio received its name from a non-existent place - the town of Castle Rock, which is often used for its stories by the writer. The company logo is a beacon from the film based on the same novel by King "Necessary things", which appeared on the screen in 1993.

Lionsgate: Canadian Bridge

The bridge in Vancouver is for good reason portrayed on the logotype of this studio. It was here that the founder of the company Robert Altman lived and lived for a while. Despite the fact that the name of the studio is literally translated as "the lion's gate", the company decided not to depict this predator on its logo.

Scott Free: Animation with the transformation of man into a bird

As you know, the famous director Ridley Scott is also the owner of the film studio. Instead of the usual picture, an animation was taken as its logo, in which a person gradually turns into a bird and flies away. Its creator - Italian artist Gianluigi Tokkafond. He drew each frame separately, then he photographed and edited the animation.
