What is a memory dump

Today we will talk about what a memory dump is. This file contains certain data that was in the RAM of a particular computer in a certain period of time. It is also a valuable source of information for professionals and developers of various software. When an emergency memory dump happens, these people have the opportunity to see at what point it happened and for what reasons. This allows you to fix bugs and bugs of the software. For any failure of Microsoft's operating systems, a memory dump is always created.

If you need to find the location, as well as the size of this file, you must right-click on the computer icon. When the context menu appears, launch its properties and open the tab with additional information. Then in the download and restore section you need to click on the settings button. You will see a window for writing debugging information. From the drop-down list, you have the choice of one of the following options.

A small memory dump will be equal to sixty-four kilobytes. In this case, only the most necessary information about the problems that have arisen will be recorded in it. Next comes the core memory dump. Its size, as a rule, is also sixty-four kilobytes. It contains debugging data for your system kernel. We pass to the last point. It's called a "full memory dump of Windows 7". In it, the entire system memory is fully preserved. At this point, the necessary files are created, the size of which is the equivalent of the RAM that is installed on your device.

You can also assign the place where this file will be located, and also change the setting that is responsible for superficial recording in the existing file. I strongly recommend that you do not change these settings, so that they remain as they were by default.

Also worth noting is that you can create this file yourself manually. To do this, call the start menu, start the service called "Run", and in it enter the command "regedit", then click the "OK" button. The operating system registry editor appears before you. There you need to find a key that looks like this: HKEYS LOCAL MACHINES / SYSTEMA / CurrentControlSets / Service / i8042prt / Parametres.

When you find it, right-click your manipulator on the right side of this window and select the creation of DWORLD. After that, write the name of the key "CrashOnCtrlScroll", then assign it the value "1". Then close this editor and restart your computer or laptop. To create a new file containing a memory dump, press and hold the Control button, and then double- click the Lock LOCK button .

It's all. I hope the above information was presented in an accessible form. But for certain reasons, you do not need to perform these procedures, since these are system resources. If you make mistakes, you may experience irreparable consequences for your operating system.
