What does ecology study and what is its significance

In the twentieth century, separating from biology into a separate science, ecology begins its life . This discipline immediately began to gain popularity. To date, it continues to develop rapidly. Although it covers quite a wide range of questions, probably everyone will be able to answer approximately if asked: "What does ecology study?". The subject of research of this science by various specialists is usually characterized equally. So, answering the question about what the ecology is studying, they speak quite simply: the object of study is the interaction of living organisms with the environment of their permanent habitation. In order to become more clear, a detailed explanation is needed.

First, they are living organisms. If we consider them singly, then they are influenced by three main groups of factors:

- habitat (here may include humidity, vegetation, level of illumination of the terrain, air temperature at night and day, relief and other circumstances);

- other representatives of the fauna (this includes both representatives of the same population that affect the offspring of the individual, the level of its protection, and representatives of other species and populations that affect the emergence of a competitive environment, diet, behavior of the individual);

- Anthropogenic factors (proximity of human habitation, its activity in the given territory).

Thus, in the environment - among other animals, plants and humans - the patterns of behavior are formed in individuals, the diet of food changes, and also the place of residence may change. In other words, adaptation to the habitat and its conditions takes place. As we know, it is she who is the main factor of evolution.

What does ecology study yet? The very nature, that is, the biosphere. Ecologists carefully study how the appearance and change of certain qualitative and quantitative parameters of the territorial natural zones affect the life of certain living organisms (and the interaction between them) and human activity. The influence of physical factors - the amount of light, temperature, humidity, pressure and others - is also studied.

Scientists-environmentalists have already achieved a great deal in their research. In this they are helped by continuous study and practice.

So, all over the world they go on an expedition in order to look more closely at something known or open and begin to learn new things. As a result of such "working trips", new species of animals or plants are often found, questions about endangered species are solved, new food chains are revealed.

What does ecology study. The modern aspect

At the present time, when we hear about ecology, then, most likely, we think about our influence on nature. And these thoughts will be true. The fact that the most problematic issue of ecology is precisely the negative impact of man on the environment (emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and water, poaching, deforestation and draining of lakes and marshes). Today, a huge number of public organizations are trying to solve these problems, but this is very difficult. Ordinary people can only do not litter on the street and in water bodies, less to drive a car and eat environmentally friendly products.
