What are the oil reserves in Russia?
The coming global energy crisis forces us to count the available natural resources. The main source of energy on Earth is oil. It is thanks to it that most of the power plants operate, cars and buses drive. Oil has become the main engine of modern civilization. But the amount of "black gold" is gradually drying up.
Improved equipment allowed Russian oil companies to increase the volume of proven oil reserves by 5-15%. For 3 years, from 2001 to 2004, the total explored oil reserves in Russia increased by one and a half times. To date, the RF has tripled this figure, the total volume fluctuates today at about 120 billion barrels.
Proven oil reserves in Russia are also increasing due to new discoveries. For example, the Vankor field is estimated at 3.5 billion barrels of oil. His development was started by Rosneft. At present, additional geological prospecting is being conducted to study not only terrestrial, but also marine depths of the Arctic Ocean for the subsequent extraction of oil from its bowels. Technologies are actively developing for the construction of modern floating platforms.
The main oil reserves in Russia are located in the northern regions. Development and development of these regions are associated with huge investments. The quality of oil also leaves much to be desired, therefore, before oil is transported, the oil is cleaned at special refineries. They allow to distill oil to the buyer already cleaned from foreign admixtures oil, increasing its cost and profitability of the well itself.
Reserves of oil and gas in Russia - this is one of the main sources of income. The Russian economy at the moment is completely dependent on world prices for these natural resources. Despite the fact that Russia has very rich oil and gas reserves, their extraction, and most importantly, export, is associated with great difficulties. The construction of new gas and oil pipelines requires large financial investments. Naturally, each dollar invested later will bring a considerable profit, but it takes a lot of time after the funds are paid before dividends are received. This makes investments in Russian oil unattractive for foreign capital, which makes it easier to buy it from Middle Eastern competitors. Whatever the case, oil reserves in Russia will continue to contribute to its prosperity for a long time.
