Warts on the genitals: causes, treatment. Removal of warts

The human papilloma virus can manifest itself anywhere. Warts on the genitals are one of these manifestations. These are small benign lesions from epithelial and mucous skin cells. Warts, that is, papillomas, protrude above the skin and differ in shape and appearance.

Types of intimate warts

Warts on the genitals can have 3 forms:

  • Flat formations;
  • Threadlike papillomas;
  • Pointed formations.

Place of localization of intimate warts - female and male genital organs. But, in addition, they can form around the urethra, anus and rectum. Neoplasms quickly increase, but do not affect the deep layers of the skin.

Ways of infection

Warts on the genitals are called genital warts. They rarely appear one at a time, usually group clusters. Because of the thin skin and a large number of folds, papillomas can become wet and covered with a whitish coating. This leads to inflammation and accumulation of pus, accompanied by an unpleasant odor.

The human papillomavirus is transmitted by sexual and contact routes. Intimate warts are formed in places of active friction and trauma during sexual intercourse. There are factors that increase the risk of genital warts:

  • Urogenital infections - gonorrhea, chlamydia and trichomonella infection;
  • HIV infection;
  • diabetes;
  • Stressful situations;
  • Hormonal abnormalities;
  • Weakening of immunity;
  • Adverse ecology;
  • Difficult working conditions;
  • pregnancy.

In addition to the sexual and domestic way, HPV infection can occur during passage of the birth canal. This is a vertical method of transferring papillomas from mother to newborn.

Warts on the genitals of women

Intimate warts can give a woman a lot of trouble, because it's not just cosmetic defects. They appear on the labia, which leads to trauma during sex or when wearing uncomfortable underwear. Often condylomas are formed in the vagina and the cervix, which can provoke inflammation and bleeding. Warts that appear on the skin of the perineum, are broken off by clothing and grow. Neoplasms around the anus and in the rectum interfere with defecation and cause erosion, and in the urethra area - make it difficult to drain urine and cause infections of the bladder and kidneys.

You can not ignore the papillomas, because they can give impetus to the development of cancer. Especially dangerous in this case are cervical and vaginal condylomas, which are reborn more often than others.

What is dangerous intimate warts in men

Warts on the genitals of men are also not harmless. The usual place of their localization is the head of the penis, the foreskin and urethra. But they can appear on the scrotum, skin folds in the groin and around the anus.

Warts on the penis may look like nodules of different sizes or flat furrowed conglomerates. Their color varies from pink to brown. They cause discomfort and make it difficult to urinate. Often there is a trauma to neoplasms, which stimulates inflammatory processes and increases the amount of genital warts.

Over time, an ordinary wart in the intimate area of a man can degenerate into a malignant tumor.

What warts can cause oncology?

HPV has a huge number of varieties. Therefore condylomas, like other papillomas, can carry:

  • Non-oncogenic character - this refers to the virus of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 10th type;
  • Weakly oncogenic character, that is, HPV of the 6th, 11th, 30th types;
  • Highly ionogenic character - virus of the 16th, 18th, 30th, 39th, 45th, 51st, 56th, 68th types.

The cancer risk of condyloma does not depend on its size, although larger warts are more likely to be injured. Before the appointment of treatment or removal of the wart on the genitals, the doctor always finds out what type this condyloma belongs to.

Diagnostics

To detect intimate warts, doctors conduct an examination of the patient. The anogenital area should be inspected in good light so as not to miss the small condylomas. For women, it is mandatory to examine the cervix.

If warts are found at the external aperture of the urethra, then urethroscopy is performed. Before the biopsy or surgical removal, an acetic test is done to determine the boundaries of the affected area.

For diagnosis, colposcopy is performed, cytological and histological examination is performed . This is aimed at detecting oncologic condylomas.

Treatment

Removal of warts on the genitals requires additional tests. This is a review smear, an analysis for hepatitis, a response to syphilis and HIV. In addition, they give an analysis for bacterial flora.

Treatment of warts on the genitals is carried out by the following methods:

  • Removal using radio wave surgery;
  • Laser removal of genital warts;
  • Destructive therapy;
  • Moxibustion with liquid nitrogen;
  • Medicamentous appointments;
  • Folk practices.

Treatment of intimate warts Medication can be difficult, because the patient is not always able to apply the medication alone to the affected area. Most often as a treatment, a solution of trichloroacetic acid is prescribed . This drug causes necrosis of cells, but is accompanied by pain and burning sensation.

In addition, it may be necessary to restore the immune system and the course of antiviral drugs.
