Wall decoration with laminate. Laying the laminate on the wall

Among modern materials used for building finishing, there is a class of different coatings from laminated panels, which has been developing successfully for more than 20 years. All kinds of such coatings for simplicity are usually called laminate, and there is no value, this is a product of domestic or foreign production. This type of material is actively used for different purposes. Today, the walls are decorated with laminate.

What is the difference between this material and similar ones?

The basis of the laminate is a structure that has a lot of similar to a sandwich. In multilayered panels - four or five layers of thickness in the aggregate of 12-15 millimeters. The dimensions of laminate sheets are 30 centimeters in width and two meters in length. This coating was invented in Sweden and originally it was intended for sex. However, due to their excellent properties, artificial panels have become possible to mount on walls. Laminate has such qualities as high strength and resistance to various external factors, which are combined with ease of processing and ease of installation. In the manufacture of panels, the manufacturer forms a stabilizing bottom layer, which is impregnated with resins.

Production features

The support base is made using HDF technology, which allows for a high density of the layer material. That is why the laminate flooring allows to get a surface with high strength, much higher than the strength of plastic panels, which are very popular at the moment.

Features of the finishing process

With all the above parameters, the huge popularity of laminate is due to the fantastic variety of design: it imitates the beautiful texture of almost any natural material and even unusual drawings. Such a variety, as well as durability and the highest quality have become the reason that the decoration of the walls with laminate becomes more popular. It should be noted that the technology of mounting panels on the walls, as well as floor mounting, is characterized by high speed of execution and simplicity. Laying the laminate on the wall also has another advantage - the ability to hide irregularities, without using the "wet" technology putty or plastering.

Varieties of fasteners

As is known, laminate panels can use one of two types of connection: a lock type or with click-type latches. The latter type is so simple in terms of assembly that it does not require any special experience, thanks to which the installation can be performed even by inexperienced workers.

If you decide how to fix the laminate on the wall, then you can resort to the usual frame crate of wood, consisting of beams and racks. Between the walls and the inside of the base of the panel, an additional thermal insulation is often placed in the form of sheets of foam plastic or mineral wool. The step of the horizontal and vertical elements of the carcass plank is calculated so as to ensure sufficient hardness of the coating after it has been fixed.

Decorative aspect

Often used as a wall laminate, imitating stone materials or valuable wood. Coloring can be selected in the tone of the floor covering or prefer contrasting combinations, which allows you to get very modern solutions for wall decoration, with full respect for long-standing traditions. At the moment, materials that imitate not only the tone and color of natural material but also the structure of its surface have become very popular. Rough and smooth laminate panels are easy to clean, wash, simple and hygienic in terms of cleaning, which can be considered their additional advantage.

Installation process

Before you begin the process of finishing, you need to do the room. Work should be started only after the material has been kept at room temperature for two days. Before the beginning of the finish, all the "wet" stages of the work must be completed. Depending on what material was used for the construction, plastic or wooden plugs may be needed to fix the frame elements.

While wall decoration with laminate can be considered a technique of quick and dry decorating, it is necessary to pre-seal cracks and chips on the walls, and also to plaster them and do other similar work. During the installation of the skeleton framework, before laying the laminate on the wall, it is required to ensure absolute verticality, as well as the absence of curvature of the future surface.

For these purposes a fairly long construction level is used, with which you can check everything. The required level can be maintained by inserting pieces of the board between the wall and the bar. The execution of operations will be significantly accelerated if you use a drill or a screwdriver with the appropriate attachment. The screw heads must be recessed to the level of the surface of the bars.

The walls are laminated in accordance with the technique, slightly different from that used for flooring. The lamellas need to be tightened before they are permanently fixed to the crate. It is quite convenient to use special metal overlays with a flat hook, designed for fastening panels. You can put them crocheted on the edge of the groove, then nail them to the elements of the frame, which will pull the next panel closely. Fastening with nails with nailing the inner groove of the groove to the wooden frame elements is inconvenient, since it is possible to damage the panel in the area of the outer edge of the groove or to hammer the nail head loose, which will complicate the installation of the next lamella.

It is worth saying that the walls are decorated with laminate in the hallway or in some other room using tools such as a wood hack, roulette, electric jigsaw, construction cord, corner, plumb and level. Naturally, you will need a marker or pencil, a screwdriver, a construction knife or scissors. Fastening is carried out with the help of screws, nails, fasteners, plastic or wooden plugs.

Installation of laminate with wooden lathing

In this case, the stacking technology is quite simple. The gap between the laminate and the wall remains at the same level as you chose. First you need to make a wooden crate, or simply fix the beams in the horizontal direction on the wall. The panels are already fastened to them. Fastening is made with the use of special fasteners - kleimers. Mounting is carried out at the very top and bottom of the laminated board. It is important to apply a sealant layer for the laminate to the locking joint, which will prevent the penetration of moisture through the joints, significantly prolonging the life of the material.

While laying the material on the wall, you should provide a clearance between it and the floor, and also the ceiling, so that the laminate has room for expansion. This is especially true if the walls are laminated in the kitchen. After the installation is completed, it is necessary to close the edges with aluminum corners, which also require the application of a sealant layer.

Mounting the laminate on the adhesive

This method allows you to save a lot of space. But the walls must be carefully aligned. The laminate shield is assembled on the floor, and then is glued to the wall. Joints must necessarily be smeared with sealant, and the edges - covered with an aluminum corner.
