History

Vladikavkaz Airport dates back to 1936. Then, from the first airport in the whole region of the runway, planes began to fly, making flights to Rostov-on-Don and Astrakhan. In 1979, the air harbor underwent a full-scale reconstruction, which covered both the terminal building and control towers, taxiways and a runway. The work was completed in 1982. At the same time, the airport started accepting TU-154 aircraft, considered at that time first-class aircraft.

By the end of the eighties, the object under consideration reached its peak. From here regular flights to a number of cities were carried out: Kiev, Samarkand, Minsk, Dushanbe and others. In the early nineties, a military conflict occurred between North Ossetia and Georgia, which increased the load on the aerial unit. As a result, its air-landing strip fell into disrepair, in connection with which the facility was closed for reconstruction. Today, the air harbor of Vladikavkaz is the main airport of North Ossetia, and its passenger traffic is about 200 thousand people a year.
